The Trainee role is a full time 24-month contract with Societe Generale where you will have access to a diverse range of training materials to help you succeed, covering various aspects of businesses, including but not limited to technical skills, leadership development, communication skills, client service and relationship management. To be eligible, please ensure you have completed your qualification and will be available to work full time for the duration of Trainee contract.

Reporting to the Head of CPM/COR APAC, you will provide balanced and objective credit assessments to business requests and assume analytical responsibility to support the overall credit approval process for target corporate clients. You will also be expected to be a back-up support to our data analyst for internal reporting and statistics within our operational parameters.

Main Responsibilities:

Credit analysis

  • Conduct credit analysis for corporate counterparts by preparing concise, critical and well-argued credit proposals on new request and renewals of credit facilities.
  • Evaluate and make recommendation on credit limits requested from coverage team and business lines based on banks risk appetite and clients credit profile.
  • Conduct regular and timely annual reviews and credit facility renewals.
  • Review and assess clients obligor rating at least annually, or as driven by special events and maintain valid ratings in the Banks rating tool.
  • Continue to improve credit file productivity and processing efficiency and respond in timely manner to credit requests.
  • Expedite and manage the credit approval process by liaising with relevant approvers and RISQ officers.
  • Report significant business events, financial trends, industry developments and other relevant issues relating to financial position of clients
  • Back up and support other credit analysts.
  • Assist in special projects or assignments as requested by team head.

Reporting

  • Support for week deal flow generation, annual review tracking and monitoring, credit volume statistics and portfolio analytics. Also act as a back-up support to our data analyst within CPM. 
  • Assist other credit analysts to monitor credit exposure/overshoots, concentration risk, financial covenants and credit conditions; verify data and support reporting requirements related to these areas.

Other requirements

  • Comply with applicable internal credit policies, procedures and the Bankss code of conduct
  • Maintain a high level of personal integrity and uphold the banks ethical standard both in professional activities and personal conduct.

Candidates with outstanding performance will be considered for early conversion to permanent roles.

Profile required

  • Degree in relevant discipline from a recognized university (MBA or other professional qualifications such as CFA or CPA , FRM or equivalent is preferred)
  • Previous experience in a role of credit risk analysis or assistant corporate relationship manager is a plus
  • Solid accounting, corporate finance, and credit analysis skills
  • Strong problem-solving ability with analytical thinking
  • Good knowledge in data analytics and related field
  • Quick learner and ability to multi-task
  • Attention to detail and ability to self-check
  • Basic knowledge of different bank products, particularly commercial banking/transaction banking products, treasury products
  • Basic knowledge of regulatory and business environment in Greater China
  • Well versed in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, VBA, Microsoft Access, PowerPoint, Copilot is a must)
  • Good communication skills.  Fluent English and Mandarin Chinese language skills (both speaking and writing) are mandatory. French language skill is a plus.
