Full Job Description

We're seeking someone to join our Wealth Management Finance team as a COO in WM Admin to serve as the central lead for Personnel coverage, team operations, and strategic implementation for the department, aligned with the goals and directive of Finance.


In the Finance division, we act as a partner to business units around the globe by providing management, review, analysis and advisory services of the Firm's financial and capital resources. This is a Vice President level position within the Business Management Job Family which performs business management/CAO functions including headcount management, financials, people processes, executive communications, strategic support, divisional governance, regulatory support, etc. This includes regional, location and department management and oversight.

What you'll do in the role:
> Collaborate with a varied group of colleagues in Finance and across the Firm
> Lead end-to-end processes and/or programs that require complex decision making, advanced understanding of client and stakeholder needs and subject matter expertise
> Understand and adhere to the Firm's risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls; own risk and contingency plans for business area
> Act as a role model and culture carrier; embody and set an example of the Firm's values and hold yourself and team accountable to Firm standards
> Manage organization headcount, including recruitment, talent management, mobilities, international relocations, functional deployments with staffing impact and other administrative tasks related to team members
> Oversee departmental financials and manage against budgets and forecasting estimates, exercising expense control and transparency
> Provide strategic support to the senior leadership and departmental staff where appropriate for organizational change, regulatory support, business targets and Finance-driven directives
> Lead all departmental communications and event coordination, such as announcements, open forums, training and team-building social events
> Partner with the business unit and other internal organizations to achieve collective goals, milestones, initiatives and targets
> Manage, attract, develop and retain talent for team within Finance while creating an inclusive environment; translate Firmwide goals into actionable goals for department/function

What you'll bring to the role:
> Advanced understanding of Finance functional area, industry, and competitive environment and technical skills, including risks and key regulations relevant to the division
> Strong technical skills
> Ability to inspire and support others by providing positive and constructive feedback and to acknowledge efforts of and promote team members
> Ability to manage risk and impact to functional area, and create plans to mitigate those risks
> In-depth knowledge of Finance functional area, product and/or client segment and technical skills, as well as of industry and competitive environment
> B.A./B.S. in relevant field
> 10+ years of relevant experience
> A high aptitude for numbers and a quick grasp of new applications and technology
> Must be willing to learn, grow and remain agile
> A desire to work in a team-based environment and contribute as a team player
> Extremely proficient with both MS Office

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $120,000 and $190,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
