ING Australias Mortgage Tribe is looking to hire a Senior Manager Credit Policy, based in our Sydney office.

As Senior Manager, Credit Policy, youll play a critical Line 1 risk leadership role within the Retail Bank, shaping and optimising mortgage credit policy to support sustainable growth while remaining aligned to INGs risk appetite, regulatory obligations, and strategic objectives.


This role sits within the Pricing, Profitability & Credit Risk Mortgages team and is designed for an experienced credit professional who thrives in a fastpaced, collaborative environment and enjoys working at the intersection of risk, product, and strategy.

Youll work closely with stakeholders across Credit Risk (Line 2), Sales, Product, Operations, Marketing and Tribe Leadership, leading policy development and transformation initiatives that embed riskreward settings into frontline decisioning and operational processes.

One of the most compelling aspects of this role is the scope of influence. Youll take ownership of key mortgage credit policy outcomes, support strategic portfolio optimisation, and play an active role in balancing customer outcomes, commercial performance and prudent risk management in a highly competitive mortgage market.

What youll do

  • Develop, review and optimise mortgage credit policy, ensuring alignment with INGs credit strategy, risk appetite and regulatory requirements
  • Translate strategic riskreward settings into clear, executable policy and decisioning guidelines
  • Lead policy approvals through governance forums and oversee accurate and timely implementation into frontline and operational processes
  • Own Line 1 mortgage credit quality outcomes, monitoring performance against the Risk Appetite Statement (RAS)
  • Analyse portfolio metrics including arrears, defaults, LVR/DTI distributions and exceptions to identify emerging risks
  • Take timely corrective action through policy settings, risk parameters and decisioning controls
  • Lead and contribute to credit transformation initiatives, partnering with Credit Risk, Sales, Operations and Product teams
  • Provide concise, decisionuseful credit insights and analysis to senior leaders and governance forums
  • Assess the impact of policy changes on customer outcomes, portfolio risk and business performance
  • Coach and uplift capability across the team and broader stakeholder groups, fostering strong engagement and confidence in credit policy outcomes

What were looking for

  • Degree qualified in Business, Commerce, Finance or a related quantitative discipline
  • 6+ years experience in financial services with strong exposure to mortgage credit risk, credit policy, product development or credit operations
  • Proven capability in developing and implementing credit policy within a retail banking environment
  • Strong understanding of mortgage products, portfolio risk drivers and regulatory expectations
  • Demonstrated ability to balance prudent risk management with customer and commercial outcomes
  • Advanced analytical and technical skills, including experience working with large data sets, advanced Excel and PowerPoint, and exposure to SQL or SAS
  • Excellent communication and stakeholderinfluencing skills, with the ability to translate complex analysis into clear, practical recommendations for senior leaders and governance forums
