As a Manager in the Supply Chain Transformation practice, you will play a key role in growing the Deloitte presence in the Defence sector, shaping and delivering supply chain transformation programmes.

Our Supply Chain Transformation Defence practice helps clients design and deliver their supply chain strategy to achieve their objectives within the context of the Strategic Defence Review and Defence Industrial Strategy.

To be successful in this role, you will work as part of a team of industry specialists providing Technology and Transformation services to Defence clients. You will have experience in the sector and a proven ability to design, integrate, and assure complex systems within an end-to-end supply chain context, spanning design, planning, manufacturing, warehousing, and transport, accompanied by a deep understanding of enabling digital technologies and their underlying system architectures.

In a constantly changing and complex environment, our clients value the combination of deep sector and technical expertise that we bring to transform our clients core supply chain operations, helping them to best meet demand, adapt to budgetary constraints, embrace the digital agenda and maximize operational efficiency.

We focus on the full through-life-support to Defence, in both the public and private sector. We have our approaches and methods, but more importantly we listen and help deliver change that matters to our clients.

       Planning, Forecasting and Fulfilment

Delivers integrated logistics support through life, supporting Defence in intelligent demand and supply planning to best meet Defence demands support of operational readiness and resilience.

       Product Engineering & Development

Enable clients design for supportability throughout the Concept, Assessment, Demonstration, Manufacture, In-Service and Disposal lifecycle, applying Digital Engineering and Model Based Systems Engineering practices.

3.

       Digital Manufacturing Optimisation

Support Defence Industry partners redefine their manufacturing operations to deliver operational efficiency and facilitate more effective production that best meets the needs of the Defence sector.

We are currently looking for candidates with proven ability to apply knowledge and expertise in a range of client scenarios, focusing on high quality even in high pressured, time critical situations.

As a Manager in our team, you will work closely alongside senior leaders and clients. You will play a key role in designing and delivering systems, contributing to the strategic direction of projects, and developing opportunities with clients, including the opportunity to:

  • Lead the technical design and architecture of specific systems or components within larger supply chain solutions for Defence clients, ensuring alignment with overall solution architecture, technical standards, and security requirements.
  • Define system specifications, interface control documents, data models, and detailed technical designs for complex Defence supply chain systems.
  • Collaborate closely with solution architects, technical teams, and client stakeholders to ensure seamless integration and optimal performance of systems.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to development and engineering teams during system implementation and integration.
  • Assess existing client systems, identify technical gaps, and propose robust architectural improvements, focusing on performance, scalability, security, and resilience.
  • Manage project workstreams or smaller projects focused on system design, integration, and implementation.
  • Contribute to the development of innovative thought leadership and propositions related to system architecture and technology within Defence.
  • Mentor and support the professional development of more junior team members.
  • Develop trusted relationships with our clients, acting as a credible technical advisor on system design and integration.

Essential Skills

  • An understanding of the major issues faced in the Defence sector and an interest in innovative solutions and strategies to transform the sector.
  • Proven experience in system architecture, design, and integration within complex enterprise environments, ideally within Defence
  • Demonstrable ability to translate high-level solution designs into detailed system architectures, including component design, interface specifications, and data flows.
  • Technical expertise in various system types (e.g. ERP, commercial off-the-shelf, bespoke applications, data platforms) and their integration patterns (e.g. APIs, message queues).
  • Strong understanding of system performance, scalability, security, and resilience principles.
  • Experience in defining technical standards, governance, and assurance processes for system implementations.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, and to resolve technical issues and competing demands.
  • Experience in leading workstreams or small project teams focused on system design, integration, or technical implementation.
  • Ability to adapt to rapidly changing circumstances and to think creatively to solve complex technical client issues.
  • Degree qualified or equivalent experience in a relevant technical discipline.
  • Excellent ability in Microsoft Office, particularly in PowerPoint and Excel.

Desirable Skills

  • Knowledge of specific Defence architectural frameworks (e.g. MODAF) or industry standards.
  • Experience with cloud-native architectures, microservices, and containerisation within a system context.
  • Certifications in enterprise architecture (e.g. TOGAF with a system focus) or specific technical domains.
  • Experience with cybersecurity principles and secure system design.
  • Experience and ability to operate and understand Project and Programme management disciplines, including production of project plans, key quality programme deliverables, and working and delivering to strict time constraints.
  • Experience in contributing to technical sections of bid responses for transformation opportunities.
