Job Overview

Citi Equity Trading Strategy - US

We are looking to hire a strategist to join Citis US Equity Trading Strategy (CETS) team and be based out of Mumbai. The team is responsible for providing market commentary on the US equity markets, including tactical market analysis. CETS combines macro & micro equity and derivatives viewpoints to make directional and relative value trading calls alongside medium-term thematic views.

The candidate will be a responsible for running key analysis to contribute to the teams views, with a focus on Citis trading platform, institutional clients and the Citi Private Bank. These analyses will be quantitative as well as fundamental in nature, and will involve using a variety of tools, including Microsoft Excel, Python, and datasets such as Option Metrics and Bloomberg DL, among others.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Help build, manage and maintain the teams infrastructure including datasets, models and files. This requires proficiency working with Excel, Bloomberg, FactSet, Haver, SQL, Python or similar tools.
  • Contribute to written commentary, both systematic as well as ad-hoc, and assist in generating trade ideas for internal (Citi sales and trading) as well as external clients.
  • Coverage of US equity market, including top-down analysis of valuation, earnings, options markets, sector recommendations and trade ideas.
  • Collaborate with Citi research to help market Citis product suite to extremal clients.
  • Create presentations to help pitch the teams views on client calls, conferences, and meetings.
  • Manage client requests for data and analysis.
  • Provide internal input to senior risk takers.

Knowledge/Experience:

  • Individual should have excellent knowledge of managing large data sets across platforms such as Python, SQL or eViews.
  • Track record of back-testing strategies, preferably systematic strategies, via Python or similar platforms.
  • Individual should be very proficient in working with Microsoft Excel, particularly large files and datasets.
  • Preferable: exposure to some combination of fundamental stock modelling, macro equity analysis, derivatives, delta-one and/or quantitative investment strategy.

Skills:

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Essential that individual is motivated to learn new concepts and grow their skills in new areas.
  • Strong quantitative skills. Experience with Excel and coding languages (such as Python) is required.
  • Ability to work calmly and with efficiency and accuracy under pressure; detail oriented.
  • Time management. Ability to balance competing priorities and meet agreed deadlines.
  • Understanding of financial analysis, modeling and valuation techniques will be preferable. 

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience.
  • Preferable: MBA/CFA or equivalent.
  • Past work or study in statistics, economics or engineering is ideal.
