Description We are currently recruiting a Trainee Actuary/Pricing Analyst for a 12 Month FTC in our Pricing & Underwriting Department. Reporting to the Commercial Lines Pricing Manager, your role will be to support the pricing function within AXA Ireland to achieve overall financial targets for all classes of business / channels / territories written by AXA Ireland. At AXA we work smart, empowering our people to balance their time between home and the office in a way that works best for them, their team, and our customers. You'll spend the majority of your working week away from home, either at one of our office locations, visiting clients or attending industry events. You will work in a team of analysts and actuaries: your main responsibilities will include: Preparing data, including extracting target data from multiple databases, integrating datasets, creating derived variables, applying business rules, and performing quality control checks to ensure data accuracy and reliability. Exploring datasets (internal/external) which can help price and underwrite risks more effectively Developing rate change proposals and supporting impact analyses to maximise portfolio value. Ensuring that pricing actions are aligned to overall AXA account targets and strategic financial plan. Abiding by AXA customer fairness expectations and all applicable regulations. Making pricing recommendations to ensure profitability and communicating these effectively to the business. Monitoring performance of rating actions and overall account KPIs against expectations and identifying solutions as required. Providing support on requests for additional pricing analysis when required. Deriving and sharing account optimisation insights and analysis at regular account review meetings. Working collaboratively within the Pricing & Underwriting team and sharing best practices. Maintaining existing internal tools by implementing new features and addressing any issues or bugs to ensure continuous improvement and reliability. Representing Pricing team on cross-functional projects within AXA Ireland. Demonstrating flexibility within the role, being prepared to undertake other duties as assigned by line manager from time to time. About You: Candidates must hold a numerical degree in Statistics, Actuarial Studies, Engineering, Mathematics, or Computer Science. A masters degree in these areas is advantageous but not mandatory. Ideally, candidates will have 2+ years of experience in a similar Trainee Actuary, Pricing Analyst, or Data Science role. Experience working in Commercial Lines pricing desirable including understanding the insurance industry and external influences. Proven experience using SAS, R and/or other programming languages. Strong knowledge of data sources, analytical tools, and key business drivers. Ability to identify and communicate limitations of tools and methods. Proven experience using Microsoft Office suite. Detailed-oriented, problem-solver and solution focused with proven ability to deliver, prioritising and organising workload. Autonomous, innovative, pragmatic, and capable of applying both known and new techniques. Ability to work on multiple projects at the same time. Able to apply analytical problem solving, make recommendations, and implement improvements continuously in a dynamic environment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with an ability to work collaboratively with others Awareness of compliance requirements related to Health & Safety, IT Security, and relevant legislation within the Pricing & Underwriting department.
