Description We are recruiting an Actuarial Trainee (graduate or part qualified) to join our Data/Claims Analytics team within the Actuarial Function at AXA Ireland. This is an excellent opportunity to join a team responsible for delivering data driven solutions across multiple areas of the business. At AXA we work smart, empowering our people to balance their time between home and the office in a way that works best for them, their team and our customers. You'll work majority of your week away from home. Away from home means either attendance at one of our head office locations, visiting clients or attending industry events. Working in the team you will provide reporting, insights, and analytical solutions which will shape and drive AXAs new initiatives within claims areas. You will work in a team of Actuaries, data scientists, analysts and engineers and main responsibilities will include: Data preparation & manipulation including reconciliations and analysis. Analysing large internal or external data sets and present analysis to audiences with varying technical knowledge. Preparing and deliver presentations and visualisations, making actionable and business focused recommendations for improvement. Carrying out defined processes under the guidance of management. Assisting in regulatory reporting. Interacting with the Claims teams to understand their needs and requirements. Working collaboratively within the team and share best practices. Working alongside multiple areas on projects. Supporting management and contribute to Claims focused projects. Provision of data to external/internal customers on request. Is flexible within the role and prepared to undertake other duties as assigned by line manager from time to time. About You: Partially qualified Actuary with the Institute of Actuaries (or equivalent) OR minimum graduate level (actuarial 3rd level course or 3rd level degree in statistics / mathematics/ Data Science) Experience in applying actuarial techniques to project claims trends would be beneficial. Good understanding of data mining methodology and/or data science process is required. Experience in the following areas is a plus: Working within General Insurance, specifically with Fraud and Claims data Use of R, Python, SQL or SAS for data manipulation and processing. Flexible with approach to problems to help develop and create reporting to align with business needs. Strong work ethic with the ability to balance work demands & study for actuarial exams. Awareness of the overall compliance to Health & Safety, IT Security and all legislation/compliance aligned to AXAs standard. Good written and oral communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly and concisely to both a technical and non-technical audience. Able to apply analytical problem solving, make recommendations, and implement improvements continuously in a dynamic environment. Continual professional development through networking, educational progress and personal development Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously to meet tight reporting deadlines.
