About Vanguard

More than 45 years ago, John C. Bogle had a vision to start an investment company that did things differently. A company with no external shareholders. Where all the profits were invested back into the business and used to lower costs. Evidently, it was as bold as it was brilliant. To this day, Vanguard Group still has no external shareholders. That means no share prices to protect, and no profits to generate for outside owners.

Today, Vanguard is one of the worlds largest investment management companies, serving more than 50 million investors worldwide. For more than 30 years Vanguard Australia has been supporting individual investors, financial advisers, and superannuation members to achieve their long-term financial goals.

Core Responsibilities

  • Review financial reporting deliverables (annual and interim) for managed funds, ETFs and related investment products, in accordance with Australian Accounting Standards (AASB), Corporations Act requirements and other applicable regulatory obligations.

  • Perform analytical reviews and control checks over financial reports and reporting outputs produced by external service providers, investigating exceptions and supporting issue resolution.

  • Supports dividend and capital gain distribution process, as assigned, including review distribution calculations, analysis of reporting outputs and resolution of exceptions.

  • Develop and maintain an understanding of accounting, regulatory and statistical reporting requirements impacting investment funds, including financial statement disclosures and regulatory submissions, and assist in assessing their impact on reporting deliverables.

  • Liaise with external auditors, custodians and internal stakeholders to support reporting deliverables, audits and regulatory obligations.

  • Identify control gaps, operational risks and process improvement opportunities and contribute to the enhancement of the team's control framework.

  • Maintain policies, procedures and process documentation, ensuring key controls are executed effectively and reporting processes remain fit for purpose.

  • Support the implementation of regulatory and accounting reporting changes, including changes arising from new standards, industry developments or evolving disclosure requirements.

  • Assist in the preparation of certification papers, management reporting and governance documentation as required.

  • Participate in strategic projects and continuous improvement initiatives focused on enhancing reporting quality, operational efficiency and risk management outcomes. Support the evaluation and implementation of process improvements, automation and AI-enabled solutions that improve reporting accuracy, streamline workflows and create capacity for higher-value analytical activities.

  • Shares knowledge and assists colleagues with problem resolution.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of three years related business/accounting experience.

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience. Finance or Accounting degree preferred

  • CA or CPA qualified or working towards completion.
