Full Job Description

Main Purpose

We are seeking to hire a highly analytical and driven professional to join our Credit Team in Athens. The successful candidate will work as part of a group responsible for reviewing, approving and managing credit risk associated with trading and financing transactions across multiple products in European Metals, Minerals and Bulk sectors. The role will involve independent evaluation of credit and performance risks, definition of the risk appetite, negotiation directly with external counterparties, and collaboration with commercial teams to ensure that exposures remain appropriately structured, adequately mitigated and within acceptable limits. The successful candidate will independently manage the assigned portfolio.

Key responsibilities

  • Reviewing counterpart information (qualitative/quantitative) and recommending credit limits for approval

  • Managing the credit risk of the assigned portfolio of clients

  • First point of contact for the assigned portfolio

  • Liaising with traders to understand the commercial relationship and determine the risk appetite of the assigned counterparts

  • Speaking to customers to obtain information / understand their business profile versus peer group

  • Work with Credit colleagues worldwide to manage exposures / set credit appetite for global groups

  • Working with risk mitigation providers as part of the credit management process

  • Follow key developments in the metals and minerals markets

  • Work on industry wide projects

Required qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in credit risk roles within a bank, trading house, or financial institution

  • Independent credit approval authority and experience is a plus

  • Must be educated in finance, trading or similar studies to degree level

  • Fluent in English
