Full Job Description
Description
At Engine by Starling, we are on a mission to find and work with leading banks all around the world who have the ambition to build rapid growth businesses, on our technology.
Engine is Starling's software-as-a-service (SaaS) business, the technology that was built to power Starling, and two years ago we split out as a separate business.
Starling has seen exceptional growth and success, and a large part of that is down to the fact that we have built our own modern technology from the ground up. This SaaS technology platform is now available to banks and financial institutions all around the world, enabling them to benefit from the innovative digital features, and efficient back-office processes that has helped achieve Starling's success.
We draw upon our experience as knowledgeable bankers, and best in class technologists to become the chosen option for these banks, and preferred partners for leading consultancies.
As a company, everyone is expected to roll up their sleeves to help deliver great outcomes for our clients. We are an engineering led company and were looking for someone who will be excited by the potential for Engines technology to transform banking in different markets around the world.
Hybrid Working
We have a Hybrid approach to working here at Engine - our preference is that you're located within a commutable distance of one of our offices so that we're able to interact and collaborate in person. We don't like to mandate how much you visit the office and work from home, that's to be agreed upon between you and your manager.
About the Role:
We are looking for an exceptionally organised, proactive Project Manager to join the Chief of Staffs Office. Engine is growing rapidly across international markets, and this central role is designed for a self-starter who can take ownership of high-impact internal special projects, cross-functional governance, and operational readiness.
At Engine, we have a lot of moving pieces. You will work across multiple teams - sitting at the intersection of Engines Corporate Operations and Group Legal, Tax, Finance, and People - supporting projects from planning through to execution. A key focus will be establishing robust project management frameworks, SOPs, and vendor governance to support our existing operations and continued global market expansion.
This role will close on Tuesday 8th September 2026
What you'll get to do:
- Special Projects & Corporate Operations: Coordinate and drive internal multi-disciplinary projects across corporate operations, including cross-functional policy rollout, process optimisation, and system implementations.
- International Expansion & Operational Readiness: Build and manage project plans, trackers, and governance frameworks that support international market entry, entity readiness, and cross-border team operations (working alongside Global Mobility, internal and external Legal, Tax, Finance, and People teams).
- Process & SOP Standardisation: Develop, document, and implement repeatable standard operating procedures (SOPs), operational playbooks, and governance frameworks across Corporate Operations.
- Board & Leadership Governance: Project-manage, track, and drive cross-functional execution on governance initiatives, strategic priorities and critical organisational level actions, arising from Board and Executive leadership meetings.
- Vendor Governance & Contract Delivery: Act as a central operational liaison for external specialist vendors and advisory partners; establish SLAs, track deliverables, and ensure contract execution.
- Reporting & Executive Dashboards: Partner closely with the Reporting Analyst and Risk teams to establish project metrics, track KPIs, and build executive dashboards for special projects, operational spend, and expansion tracking.
- Executive Communications: Produce clear status updates, risk logs, and communication packs for senior leadership, internal teams, and external stakeholders.
Key Aspects:
- Process Efficiency: Standardised, repeatable SOPs and project frameworks implemented across key operational workflows.
- Risk & Timeline Governance: On-time project delivery and proactive identification/mitigation of risks, issues and operational bottlenecks across workstreams.
- Vendor & SLA Accountability: Clear tracking, performance monitoring, and SLA compliance across third-party operational vendors.
- Data & Reporting Clarity: Accurate, predictable tracking of project milestones, budgets, and executive dashboard metrics.
