You are the Relationship Manager of your own portfolio of European project finance clients, mainly active in the renewable energy sector and increasingly in digital infrastructure.

You & your role

As Associate (Director) Relationship Manager, Project Finance Europe, you will work in the Relationship & Portfolio Management (RPM) team based in Utrecht. The RPM team manages the client relationships after financial close. The team works closely with the Origination, Structuring & Execution (OSE) team, which brings the new transactions into the portfolio. You will be responsible for managing your own portfolio of clients, including all client-related tasks, monitoring client performance and maintaining close relationships. You are comfortable analysing financial models and legal documentation, draw clear conclusions and know how to present them clearly, both verbally and in writing, internally and externally.

  • Support the growth ambitions of the European Project Finance franchise.
  • Maintain a healthy portfolio of clients [by anticipating market developments and impact on clients.
  • Contribute to financing the Energy Transition and growing the share of sustainable assets on Rabobanks loan book.

  • 36-40 hours per week.
  • 30 colleagues in RPM as part of the wider European Project Finance team of around 85 people.

Top 3 responsibilities

  • Independently manage all requests related to your clients (e.g. annual reviews, refinancings, amendment requests). Stay in close contact with your clients to build strong relationships and identify commercial opportunities.
  • Perform credit analysis of your clients by using external financial models and reporting, as well as internal risk assessment systems. Translate findings into clear conclusions and recommendations in credit papers. Stay on top of the financial and project documentation of your clients. Understand, interpret and monitor requirements stemming from the agreements.
  • Contribute proactively to internal working groups to e.g. monitor market developments, continuously improve the organization and development of the department and actively contribute to in depth portfolio analysis.

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Finance, Economics or another finance-oriented study.
  • 3+ year (Associate) 5+ years (Associate Director) of relevant work experience in a finance-focused or project finance(-related) role. Energy transition or digital infrastructure knowledge is a plus
  • Strong financial analysis skills and the motivation to work deeply with models.
  • Ability to translate analysis into clear conclusions and practical next steps.

Associate Directors are graded in scale 10. In this role, relationship management becomes more important and the role carries more own responsibility and a more independent position within the team.
