The Fixed Income Division (FID) is comprised of Interest Rate and Currency Products, Credit Products and Distribution. Professionals in the Division assess and actively manage risk, trade securities, and structure as well as execute innovative transactions in the fast-paced and constantly changing global markets.

Global Markets Group is the offshoring arm of Morgan Stanleys Sales & Trading businesses in India. It covers functions across FID and Institutional Equities Division (IED) ranging from those associated with sales, trading, analytics, strats to risk management.

The China Sales team covers institutional clients across asset managers, banks and security house across interest rates and FX products. The sales team transacts with this diverse set of clients on a high frequency basis across currencies and products (FX, FX options, Bonds, Interest Rate swaps, Interest Rate options, government bonds, and more).

The sales team represents the Firm to clients, and serves as clients gateway to the Firm. It is the responsibility of Sales and its support team to provide and act as the conduit for clients to all stakeholders of the Frim including traders, structurers, and research analysts in order to provide best in class execution and coverage.

You will become a critical part of the sales team, both in liaising with clients support team, providing valuable trade (and business) analysis. In order to streamline our production, and better serve our clients.

An exceptional trading support position has become available in direct support of a market leading Global Investment Banks trading operations, and client support.

This position would suit a trade support or middle office professional who has previous experience with a global investment bank and seeking to support a high-performing team of salespeople. Strong product knowledge of Rates (bonds, IRS, XCCY, Swaptions), FX (Spot, Fwds, Options) is preferred.

The ideal applicant would have previous experience for a few years within Fixed Income in a direct trade support, P&L support or desk support capacity.

A good understanding of trade flow processing, P&L principles is important, in addition to a good understanding of financial markets and trading products. We are keen for applicants to have a solid trade support experience with direct trade booking, and revenue reporting.

The sales and trading teams will often be direct in their communication, so it's important that the Trading Assistant is able to communicate succinctly and concisely. A good understanding of the interaction with different teams and people in the trade support work flow chain is useful, for example vendor confirmations systems such as, but not limited to: MarkitWire, Harmony, but also global teams you will interact with in order to perform your role well such as, but not limited to: settlements, onboarding.

This position will require close liaison with other teams as well as interaction with domestic and offshore divisions to facilitate timely and accurate settlement, reconciliations with other trade support teams, plus accurate books and balances and trade booking functions.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with trade support teams, salespeople, trading assistants and external Middle Office functions to ensure perfect trade bookings and settlement, and quick resolution of trade dispute
  • Co-ordinate and facilitate resolution of trade discrepancies (liaise with trading desk, IT, settlements)
  • Complete FX and Rates trade bookings and allocations
  • Work with the sales desk to set up / facilitate new client opportunities
  • Become involved in projects / strategic work as required
  • Remain flexible in regard to products dealt with
  • Collate, analyze daily/weekly/monthly management reporting data (trade processing, flow, positioning)
  • Maintenance of propriety spreadsheets and data

Qualifications - External

We are looking for high caliber people who possess the following competencies:

  • Around 2+ years' experience in a middle office / trade support capacity at a global investment bank or investment firm in the same capacity
  • Experience working with sales/traders
  • Ability to work with colleagues in offshore locations, maintain communication and build rapport with these colleagues
  • Good understanding of risk functions and PnL
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excel and data analysis experience
  • A disposition with high attention to detail
