Position Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated Analyst to join our West Power Trading Desk. This role is ideal for a recent graduate or an individual with up to two years of relevant experience who is looking to build a career in quantitative power markets and trading. The Analyst will report directly to the Head of the West Power Desk and will support the team's analytical, modeling, and trading activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the West Power Trading Desk through quantitative analysis and market research

  • Develop and maintain analytical tools, models, and workflows to support trading decisions

  • Analyze market data, identify trends, and assist in evaluating trading opportunities

  • Apply statistical methods and quantitative techniques to market and pricing analysis

  • Collaborate with traders and other stakeholders to enhance desk processes and performance

  • Contribute to various projects related to market analytics, risk analysis, and trading strategy development

Qualifications Required

  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative discipline such as Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, Economics, or a related field

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Proficiency in Python or a similar programming language

  • Understanding of statistics and quantitative methods

  • Knowledge of options pricing and derivatives concepts

  • Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment

Preferred

  • Up to two years of relevant experience in quantitative finance, energy markets, trading, or a related analytical field

  • Participation in a quantitative finance, financial engineering, or similar graduate program

  • Interest in power markets and energy trading

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $150,000 - $200,000 per year for Associate at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
