Shape the future of risk management in one of Australia's leading digital banks

ING is a supportive and dynamic team delivering innovative products which are at the forefront of digital banking in Australia. The bank currently operates across Retail, Business and Wholesale Banking.

Operational Design, Control & Resilience (ODCR) is responsible for enabling the Non-Financial, Regulatory and Compliance Risk activities undertaken in the First Line of Defence across the bank. This role sits in the team that supports the Operations and Support Functions business areas.

As a Line 1 Risk & Control Business Partner , you will be a trusted adviser to senior leaders across the business, helping identify, assess and manage operational, regulatory and compliance risks. Working within the First Line of Defence, you'll play a critical role in strengthening risk culture, supporting strategic decision-making and ensuring effective risk management across the organisation.

This is a highly visible role that offers broad exposure across several business areas, providing the opportunity to influence senior stakeholders and contribute to the ongoing evolution of ING's non-financial risk management.

What you'll do

  • Partner with business leaders to identify, assess, monitor and manage non-financial risks.

  • Facilitate risk and control self-assessments and maintain business risk profiles.

  • Provide expert advice on operational, regulatory and compliance risks, including Risk in Change activities.

  • Support product approvals, process reviews and risk assessments to ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory obligations.

  • Coordinate responses to regulatory change initiatives, consultations and enquiries.

  • Drive remediation activities and support investigations into incidents, issues and emerging risks.

  • Collaborate with First, Second and Third Line stakeholders to strengthen risk frameworks, tools and processes.

  • Develop and deliver training, awareness initiatives and capability uplift activities across the business.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement projects, strategic initiatives and risk transformation activities.

What we're looking for

  • 8+ year's experience within financial services or retail banking.

  • Previous experience in a Non-Financial Risk or Compliance role within either the First, Second or Third Line of Defence.

  • Strong understanding of operational, regulatory and compliance risk management frameworks.

  • Previous Risk and Control experience supporting an operations and/or Support Function (e.g. HR. Finance) is desirable but not essential

  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills

  • Demonstrable experience in analytical, problem-solving and critical thinking capability.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
