If youre looking for a career that will help you stand out, join HSBC, and fulfil your potential - whether you want a career that could take you to the top, or an exciting new direction, we offer opportunities, support and rewards that will take you further.

Were one of the largest banking and financial services organisations in the world, with a network that covers more than 50 countries and territories. We aim to be where the growth is, enabling businesses to thrive and economies to prosper, and, ultimately, helping people fulfil their hopes and realise their ambitions.

Were currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Senior Vendor Manager.

As our Senior Vendor Manager you will lead Vendor and Optimisation Programmes across Chief Technology Office (CTO), delivering measurable outcomes in cost reduction, simplification, consolidation and delivery of strategic objectives. Youll work in close collaboration and partnership with Technology, Chief Operating Office (COO), Procurement, Finance, Architecture, and Risk teams.

The role will shape and execute strategic initiatives such as operational optimisation and improvement, vendor rationalisation, build vs buy assessments, open-source migration opportunities and commercial optimisation. You will own strategy definition and business case development and oversee execution and provide executive reporting, ensuring sponsor-owned decisions and senior leader communications are clear, timely and fit for purpose throughout delivery.

As an HSBC employee in the UK, youll have access to tailored professional development opportunities and a competitive pay and benefits package. This includes private healthcare for all UK-based employees, enhanced maternity and adoption pay and support when you return to work, and a contributory pension scheme with a generous employer contribution.

In this role you will:

  • Develop business cases to support delivery of strategic objectives across vendor landscape and CTO infrastructure optimisation/simplification
  • Ensure long-term objectives and strategies in-place and executed for major vendors and infrastructure simplification
  • Lead optimisation planning and execution, ensuring alignment to CTO strategy, Architecture direction and financial plans
  • Review existing commercial constructs and contractual levers (pricing, commitments, termination, audit, benchmarking, change control) to unlock savings and reduce complexity.
  • Ensure financial model, workforce assumptions and recharge approach are understood and aligned with the optimisation business case.
  • Provide high-level oversight of third party spend approval and governance, partnering with Supplier Management to ensure submissions are timely, complete and aligned to the agreed business case

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

  • Proven experience driving vendor performance and commercial optimisation across contract models (T&M, managed services, hardware, software).
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, building effective partnerships across Technology, Procurement, Finance, Risk and Operations.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical and commercial topics clearly and concisely to all levels, including senior leadership.
  • Track record in technology vendor and/or operations management, ideally within financial services or a large multinational environment.
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen (including accounting fundamentals), with experience shaping contracts to meet business and risk requirements.
  • Highly analytical and outcome-focused, able to synthesise complex information and make data-driven decisions.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage operational risk and deliver under pressure in a fast-changing environment.

Opening up a world of opportunity.
