Full Job Description

If youre looking for a career that will help you stand out, join HSBC, and fulfil your potential - whether you want a career that could take you to the top, or an exciting new direction, we offer opportunities, support and rewards that will take you further.

Were one of the largest banking and financial services organisations in the world, with a network that covers more than 50 countries and territories. We aim to be where the growth is, enabling businesses to thrive and economies to prosper, and, ultimately, helping people fulfil their hopes and realise their ambitions.

We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Compliance Manager within our Asset Management business supporting our alternative investment teams. Youll help embed a customer-focused, speak-up culture and strengthen regulatory compliance oversight across private markets including private equity and private credit. Working closely with colleagues across Compliance and the 1st Line of Defence, youll contribute to a leading-practice control environment through pragmatic guidance, effective challenge, and high-quality execution of both BAU and ad-hoc compliance activity.

As an HSBC employee in the UK, youll have access to tailored professional development opportunities and a competitive pay and benefits package. This includes private healthcare for all UK-based employees, enhanced maternity and adoption pay and support when you return to work, and a contributory pension scheme with a generous employer contribution.

In this role youll:

  • Partner with the wider Asset Management Compliance team to provide timely guidance and support to the business in managing regulatory compliance risks in line with Service Model.
  • Help implement and embed compliance policies, standards, and related governance expectations across alternatives investment activities.
  • Contribute to the RCA process by supporting second line oversight and constructive challenge as you develop capability in this area.
  • Take ownership for aspects of the compliance documentation review process, ensuring materials remain accurate, current, and fit for purpose.
  • Monitor changes to business practices and products, assessing whether procedures and controls remain adequate and driving required updates to compliance documentation.
  • Perform monitoring and adherence checks against established procedures, clearly reporting findings and recommending practical improvements.

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

  • Solid compliance background within an Asset Management environment (or other adjacent sector), with developing knowledge of risk management and governance frameworks.
  • Good knowledge of Financial Markets and Asset Management products, particularly alternatives asset classes such as private equity and private credit.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships across Compliance, 1st Line of Defence, and key external stakeholders (e.g., trustees, investment advisers, and auditors).
  • Strong organisation and prioritisation skills, able to manage BAU deliverables alongside ad-hoc assessments.
  • High attention to detail and a disciplined approach to documentation, monitoring, and evidencing outcomes.

Opening up a world of opportunity.
