Role Purpose

Manage and grow Asia Fixed Income portfolios in line with client objectives, risk appetite, and applicable investment guidelines. Deliver consistent risk-adjusted performance through disciplined portfolio construction, robust credit and macro analysis, and effective risk management, while partnering closely with Distribution, Product, Trading, and Risk to support client outcomes and business growth.

Key Accountabilities

  • Manage Asia fixed income portfolios to achieve strong risk-adjusted investment returns
  • Formulate and implement portfolio strategies and contribute to alpha generation of the team
  • Enhance the teams capabilities by conducting in-depth macro research and analysis
  • Promote Asian fixed income products to existing and prospective clients
  • Work closely with credit research, investment specialists, dealing, sales, business support and analytics teams
  • Collaborate with global fixed income teams
  • Ensure adherence to portfolio guidelines, limits, and internal risk frameworks

  • Monitoring of fund positions, performance, risk profile and needs. Timely identification and escalation of issues

Observation of Internal Controls (Compliance Policy / FIM requirements)

  • Maintains HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators
  • Understands, follows and demonstrates compliance with all relevant internal and external rules, regulations and procedures that apply to the conduct of the business in which the jobholder is involved, specifically Internal Controls and any Compliance policy including, inter alia, the Group Compliance policy
  • Understand the Treating Customers Fairly (TCF) principles, HSBC Global Asset Managements TCF philosophy and how this affects your role. Act in a manner that takes account of these principles to ensure fair outcomes for customers

Knowledge & Experience / Qualifications

  • Proven track record of managing Asia fixed income portfolios across rates, local currency and credit
  • Extensive knowledge of Asia fixed income products, regional macro dynamics and USD/local bond markets
  • Great team player with strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • High standards of governance, documentation and conduct
  • Sound academic background, undergraduate or post-graduate qualifications in finance/investment/business administration
