We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Assistant Director-Risk Modeling and Monitoring

In this role, you will:

  • Perform activities pertaining to First Line of defense based on the Model Risk Management Framework & Retail Model Policy for all Retail models:
  • Support Model users
  • Model development based on best industry practice
  • Model validation, Model calibration and monitoring
  • Assist the Risk steward functions in second line of defense activities
  • Model documentation in line with SABB standards
  • Regular review of the risk model inventory and review of BRDs/Change control documents for model changes. Engage in strategy development/modification and model monitoring & strategy monitoring activities
  • Support the model reviews by IMR, Internal and external Audit as well as regulatory visits; involvement in implementing the findings in a timely manner. Implementing global best practices related to model risk management

To be successful you will:

  • Strong quantitative background, with a degree (Masters/PhD preferred) in Statistics/ Econometrics/ Economics/Mathematical Sciences/Engineering/Finance
  • Minimum of 7-8 years of experience in model development, model validation and model management along with credit strategy development
  • Knowledge and practical experience in risk requirements related to modelling & strategy pertaining to Retail portfolios
  • Mandatory requirement to carry out any analytics related tasks independently, i.e. requirement of hands-on knowledge of Retail portfolio analytics
  • Knowledge and experience of model development and validation including data extraction and pre-processing, model development, user acceptance testing and model performance assessments of models
  • Excellent programming skills in SAS/R/Python
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with the senior management & onshore / offshore team set-ups
  • Ability to manage projects & deliver results within stringent deadlines
