Full Job Description

Your tasks

  • Ensure (i) independent and competent credit risk analyses and assessments (forward looking analysis, industry expertise and peer comparison); (ii) to support the front office in structuring transactions in a risk-adequate manner and (iii) ongoing risk monitoring;
  • Where possible produce a one-step credit processing for the borrowing entity incl. the relevant BeNeLux ,German and other borrowers (i.e. acts as group CO).
  • Decide on ratings and possible risk mitigants (i.e. collateral);
  • Take credit decisions within held Delegated Authority and recommend proposals to higher approval authorities ensuring presentations are of the required high standard;
  • Develop and actively maintain Sector/Regional knowledge for the specific sectors/regions covered within the team;
  • Monitor the portfolio regarding rating actuality and distinctive risk feat ures as well as to report on risk relevant findings;
  • Be responsible together with the relationship manager for getting the necessary client information and research, potentially with direct client contact to take into account the overall risk profile (amount/tenor/rating) to match the depth of analysis required;
  • Consider and comment on the risk/return profile of the exposure managed/approved.

In line with Commerzbanks high standards regarding client-oriented services and subject to general principles, business and credit related directives, as well as the guidelines for managing credit risks:-

Hierarchy:
Directly reporting to: Local Credit Officer (F3)

Specific Main duties:

  • Ensure best practice credit risk analyses, assessments and decisions;
  • Approve credit applications according to delegated authorities based on the independent internal rating and the given collateral if appropriate;
  • Decline transactions if necessary, to define conditions for approval or to propose alternative structures;
  • Assist front office and legal in negotiation of loan and trading documentation to ensure that signed documents meet credit criteria;
  • Ensure that the re-rating and credit reviews in your responsibility are done in a timely manner and in compliance with applicable guidelines including override of ratings as appropriate
  • Supply of necessary information from his/her own sphere of activity for the preparation of Industry Batches;
  • Take care of up-to-date ongoing risk monitoring (e.g. collecting information, Watch-List, early-warning signals, compliance with covenants) to identify and detect at earliest opportunity credit deterioration and suggest/propose specific risk mitigation;
  • Escalate/ inform the Local Credit Officer of process disruptions, problematic cases, relevant decisions in individual cases that may be escalated;
  • Determine/recommend if counterparties have to be transferred to GRM CC-RC (intensive care) and to prepare the respective action;
  • Ensure input of credit related information into the relevant IT systems in a timely and orderly manner;
  • Visit clients in case of need (coordinated with the respective front office);
  • Support and consult the front office in credit risk related issues;
  • Ensure the fulfilment of tasks in an economic, efficient, quality- and deadline-conscious manner;
  • Promote transfer of know-how and buy in to a team spirit / co-operation ethos; and
  • Assist Local Credit Officer with input into various reports and ad hoc requirements relating to portfolio analysis (i.e. Portfolio Reviews, factbooks etc).

Your Profile

Experience: minimum 5 years credit experience in the Dutch market.

Language skills: Fluent in English and Dutch (orally and written)
