Temporary Support Officer (Part-Time)

We have an exciting opportunity for a Temporary Support Officer to join our clients team, providing person-centred support to older people, vulnerable adults, and individuals needing extra assistance to live independently.

This is a rewarding and varied role where no two days are the same. You will work closely with customers to help them build confidence, maintain independence, and access the right support services. This may include helping individuals move into more suitable accommodation, supporting during difficult times, or simply being a consistent and trusted point of contact.

You will work collaboratively with health professionals, social care teams, housing services, and other partner organisations to ensure customers receive holistic and effective support. You will also promote wellbeing, safeguarding, and inclusion while helping create safe and welcoming environments.

Location: Goldthorpe, Barnsley

Hours: 18.5 hours per week

Tuesday-Thursday: 10:00am-2:30pm

Friday: 9:30am-2:30pm

Salary: 13,755 per annum (pro rata) / 14.30 per hour (FTE 27,510)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide person-centred support tailored to individual needs and goals
  • Support vulnerable adults, older people, and individuals experiencing housing challenges
  • Complete and review support plans, risk assessments, and case notes
  • Respond to crisis situations with empathy and professionalism
  • Work closely with external agencies and partner organisations
  • Support customers to maintain independence and improve wellbeing
  • Promote safeguarding, safety, and inclusion at all times
  • Maintain accurate records and reporting systems

About You:

  • Experience in a customer-facing support role
  • Compassionate, patient, and person-centred approach
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Understanding of safeguarding and supporting vulnerable people
  • Ability to manage challenging situations calmly and professionally
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Comfortable working independently and as part of a team
