The Sustainable Finance Group (SFG) is tasked with developing Goldman Sachs expertise, extending its capabilities, and delivering those capabilities across the firms divisions and clients. SFG is responsible for helping the firm achieve its sustainability goals, more broadly, working to make Goldman Sachs a leader in sustainable finance and prepare the firm to effectively manage risk and meet evolving and multi-faceted regulatory expectations. 

This position allows candidates to develop a strong understanding of sustainability and its relevance to various clients and other stakeholders. The candidate will work closely across all elements of the SFGs strategy, with a focus on environmental and social risk management and sustainability-related policy developments, helping drive cross-divisional collaboration across sustainability-related themes and supporting recognition of the firms sustainability initiatives and efforts through reporting and stakeholder engagement. Specific responsibilities may include:

  • Support environmental and social risk for the firm by mitigating reputational risks through transaction reviews and engaging with internal and external stakeholders
  • Research/monitor industry developments to help inform strategy, views, and discussions on various thematic topics, including changes and risks in regulatory reporting standards, evolving climate data measurement guidance, innovative climate transition finance structures, etc.
  • Help develop strategy and execute on key sustainability-related events that supports and credentializes the firms work with internal and external stakeholders
  • Project manage and support execution across various strategic workstreams 

Preferred Experience / Requirements / Qualifications / Critical Success Factors:

  • Bachelors degree 
  • Strong analytical, quantitative, and technical abilities
  • Ability to analyze data, evaluate, form independent judgments, and think creatively
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Highly detail-oriented, ability to manage competing priorities, strong organizational skills, and ability to help drive deadlines
  • Highly attuned project management and execution skills of various strategic workstreams

Salary Range 
The expected base salary for this New York, NY, United States-based position is $80000-$110000. In addition, you may be eligible for a discretionary bonus if you are an active employee as of fiscal year-end.
