Mt Owen/Glendell Operations (MGO) is an open cut mining operation which utilises truck and excavator mining methods to produce thermal and semi-soft coking coal, which is predominantly exported for domestic power generation and use in steel production. We are located within the Hunter Coalfields at Hebden in the Upper Hunter Valley of New South Wales.

An exciting opportunity exists for a motivated and experienced Mining Engineer at MGO as a key member of our Technical Services Team. We are open to applicants with experience in either Short-Term Planning or Drill and Blast, offering the opportunity to contribute to a dynamic mining operation while working closely with the MGO Mining Department and other operational teams.

Reporting to the Senior Mining Engineer you will be a collaborative and solutions-focused individual who can translate technical plans into practical outcomes. In Short-Term Planning you will be responsible for the creation of Truck & Excavator designs and schedules along with short term planning and designing across our operation. Alternatively, in Drill and Blast you will support the planning, design and execution of drill and blast activities across the operation.

The requirements for success in this role include:

  • Tertiary qualification in Engineering (Mining/Civil or related field)

  • Proficient with Mine design and Scheduling packages (such as Vulcan, Deswik and Spry)

  • Minimum two years relevant experience (desirable)

  • Ability to effectively communicate across various levels of an organisation

  • Self-motivated and forward-thinking team member

  • Committed to fostering a culture driven by safety and continuous improvement

You will have a high regard for the value of teamwork and the provision of visible leadership. The above qualities must be exercised with a strong work ethic to ensure MGOs key values of Safety, Responsibility, Simplicity, Integrity, Openness and Entrepreneurialism are achieved.
