Job Description

Reporting to the Maintenance Coordinator, you will be responsible for providing strong leadership, drive performance and ensure the effective execution of both planned and breakdown maintenance tasks.

About the Role

  • Lead the maintenance team responsible for maintaining the site's Ancillary Mobile Equipment fleet

  • Drive continuous business improvement and quality assurance of maintenance performance using your excellent problem-solving skills. You will bring fresh ideas and creative thinking to challenge the status quo

  • Supervise maintenance activities for the ancillary equipment maintenance team, ensuring all work is completed as scheduled to quality and safety standards while maintaining maintenance systems and ensuring the integrity of recorded data

  • Be accountable for leading a team of trades people to achieve agreed maintenance goals. You will also provide a high level of support to the Ancillary Equipment Coordinator and Superintendent to ensure the overall maintenance plan is achieved within deadlines

  • Be accountable for maintaining a safe workplace, providing visible leadership and coordinating the Ancillary Equipment Maintenance team to achieve agreed KPIs

  • Oversee the maintenance and reliability of the site's ancillary fleet, including Caterpillar 773, 775, 777 and 789 Service carts and Water carts, Caterpillar 18M and 24M Graders, Scrapers, Komatsu wheel loaders and Komatsu rubber-tyred dozers and Haulmax fleet

  • Assist in completing detailed analysis of equipment failures and identifying improvement opportunities to improve fleet reliability, availability and maintenance efficiency.

Roster and Location

  • Lifestyle rotating roster, 12-hour shifts (day and night)

  • Currently based on site at HVO North (off Lemington Road, Ravensworth).

About You

  • You are an engaging and enthusiastic leader, who is inspired by driving a high-performance culture through setting clear expectations, strong engagement with your team and recognising success

  • Demonstrated experience with Caterpillar fleets (773, 775, 777 and 789), Caterpillar graders (18M and 24M), scrapers, Komatsu wheel loaders and Komatsu rubber-tyred dozers will be highly regarded

  • Offering your team coaching and support to drive high performance by leveraging off your previous leadership experience

  • Completion of frontline leadership or specific maintenance leadership competencies will be highly regarded

  • Trade level qualifications in mechanical or electrical field, combined with open cut mining experience are essential

  • Previous experience is a maintenance supervisory role and/or engineering qualifications are highly advantageous

  • Exceptional communication skills and a high level of computer literacy

  • Experience with the fundamentals of Asset Management and proficiency using SAP is desirable.
