We are seeking a Lead Mechanical Designer to join our team in Brisbane. In this role you will have the opportunity to lead a small group of Designers to design equipment, 3D modelling and detail design as well as assist with plant layouts for Glencore Technologys range of mining plants and equipment. The successful candidate will work as part of a team consisting of process and mechanical engineers and drafters implementing our design-office standards. Experience in piping, structural design and P&IDs is advantageous. This roll reports to the Supervisor Drawing Office and is available as a full time permanent opportunity.

You will be responsible for: 

  • Managing a small team of Mechanical Designers; responsible for leadership, deliverables and development.
  • Designing equipment, 3D modelling and detail drawings across a wide range of Technologies. (Mineral Processing, pyrometallurgy and hydrometallurgy design experience highly desirable)
  • Leading a Team to design layouts for a range of mining plants and equipment
  • Utilising Vault tools to provide design information and templates for the design office team.

 

To thrive in this role, you will have:

  • Advanced Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
  • Minimum 10 years experience in Autodesk Inventor
  • Minimum 10 years experience in Autodesk Plant 3D and Navisworks
  • Proven experience and proficiency in the use of industry standard digital engineering tools such as Navisworks, Plant 3D, AutoCAD, Vault and Inventor.
  • Prior experience in the mining industry and Piping design is an advantage
  • A background in Mineral Processing, pyrometallurgy and hydrometallurgy design experience highly desirable
  • Clear, confident communication and excellent attention to detail
