Position Description:
Assists in establishing standards for Cloud engineering and contributes to delivering next generation solutions, using Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery/Deployment (CI/CD), Amazon Web Services (AWS), and Kubernetes. Designs, develops and modifies software systems, using scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure outcomes and consequences of design. Uses business knowledge to translate the vision for divisional initiatives into business solutions by developing complex or multiple software applications and conducting studies of alternatives. Analyzes and recommends changes in project development policies, procedures, standards, and strategies to development experts and management.
Primary Responsibilities:
Participates in Cloud architecture design teams.
Defines and implements application-level could architecture.
Develops applications on complex projects, components, and subsystems for the division.
Recommends development testing tools and methodologies and reviews and validates test plans.
Responsible for QA readiness of software deliverables.
Develops comprehensive documentation for multiple applications or subsystems.
Establishes full project life cycle plans for complex projects across multiple platforms.
Responsible for meeting project goals on-time and on-budget.
Advises on risk assessment and risk management strategies for projects.
Plans and coordinates project schedules and assignments for multiple projects.
Acts as a primary liaison for business units to resolve various project/technology issues.
Provides technology solutions to daily issues and technical evaluation estimates on technology initiatives.
Advises senior management on technical strategy.
Mentors junior team members.
Performs independent and complex technical and functional analysis for multiple projects supporting several divisional initiatives.
Develops original and creative technical solutions to on-going development efforts.
Education and Experience:
Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and five (5) years of experience as a Principal Cloud Engineer (or closely related occupation) designing, developing, and testing SOA and Application Programming Interface (API) security solutions, using IBM API Connect Gateways, IBM DataPower, IBM Message Broker, APIGEE, Java, and Python.
Or, alternatively, Masters degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and three (3) years of experience as a Principal Cloud Engineer (or closely related occupation) designing, developing, and testing SOA and Application Programming Interface (API) security solutions, using IBM API Connect Gateways, IBM DataPower, IBM Message Broker, APIGEE, Java, and Python.
Skills and Knowledge:
Candidate must also possess:
Demonstrated Expertise (DE) designing and developing enterprise API lifecycle management systems, using Golang (for advanced request middleware operations) and Python scripts (for automating manual operations); performing configuration management using Bitbucket and Git; and performing test driven development (TDD) using JUnit and Sonar.
DE building enterprise API Gateway using Google APIGEE and IBM API Connect for OAuth 2.0 Protocols (client credentials and authorization code), B2B and B2C use cases, and policy definitions and enforcements (using JSON (JWT, JWE, JWS, and JWKS protocols)).
DE developing multi-threaded, mid-tier, real-time applications in distributed environments, using Java, REST Standards, Swagger specification, JSON notation, and Webhooks for real time notifications; and developing API lifecycle management systems and platforms, using API Management Gateway Products (Google APIGEE or IBM API Connect).
DE implementing Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipeline for enterprise applications, using Git, Jenkins, and Maven; performing code quality and security scanning, using Sonar and Veracode; performing containerization and orchestration using Docker and Kubernetes; creating automation scripts using Shell Scripting; developing Cloud deployment flows using AWS or Azure; and developing or migrating applications on AWS using Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS), Simple Storage Service (S3), and Lambda.
