Hei Oranga Iwi | The opportunity
As our Manager in our EY Private team, youll work with some of NZs leading privately owned businesses, innovative entrepreneurs, and high-net-worth families and individuals to navigate complex accounting and tax matters with confidence. You will play a key role in delivering practical, high-quality advice while building trusted relationships with clients. On any given day your role could include business structuring advice, transaction support, tax accounting and compliance, SPFR reviews, IRD audits, VCFO advisory and more, which shows the diversity of work and how no day is the same. These are just some examples of the work we do and you do not need to be confident in all these areas to apply for the role.
Based in our Auckland office, this is an opportunity to join a collaborative and people-focused team where your experience in accounting and tax will help shape meaningful outcomes for clients and support the development of junior team members. There is a strong opportunity for future career pathways in the team, and the right person will be closely mentored by the NZ EY Private Leader.

In this role, youll contribute to both client delivery and team development, using your technical expertise and commercial mindset to support a diverse portfolio of clients.
- Deliver high-quality accounting and tax services across a range of privately owned entities, including companies, trusts and individuals
- Build and maintain strong client relationships, providing clear, practical advice tailored to client needs
- Lead and develop junior team members, fostering a collaborative and supportive team environment

Were looking for a well-rounded Manager who brings strong accounting capability alongside tax expertise, and a genuine interest in working with private clients and developing junior team members.
- Experience in accounting and tax within a professional services environment
- Strong understanding of New Zealand tax and compliance requirements
- Proven ability to manage client relationships and mentor junior staff
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to simplify complex issues
