What does the job involve?
The Senior Trader will be part of Equinors U.S. Gulf Coast crude trading team and will be responsible for managing the companys spot-market import and export cargo activity in the U.S. Gulf Coast, as well as related terminal positions.The position requires close cooperation with traders across Equinors global crude team, both in market discussions and in ensuring optimal trading strategies.
What will my tasks be?
Within this position, your key tasks will be to:
Contribute to the companys trading activities, with a focus on U.S. crude exports, serving as the primary market expert and representing Equinor alongside other traders and global book leads.
Identify and mature business opportunities across commodities and assets in alignment with the companys global crude strategy.
Manage daily spot-market import and export cargo activity in the U.S. Gulf Coast, as well as U.S. Gulf Coast terminal positions, including risk-management coordination across global commodity books and execution of trading activities within Equinors global crude trading framework.
Develop and execute trading and hedging strategies based on comprehensive market analysis to optimize commercial outcomes within risk mandates, in close collaboration with global lead traders.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Operations, Chartering, and Risk, and actively contribute to local and global discussions to refine market views and trading plans.

5+ years of relevant crude trading experience.
Expertise in U.S. crude market fundamentals, including supply and demand, crude qualities, oil transportation, and shipping.
In-depth understanding of the risks involved in commodity transactions and related risk management, including operational safety.
Expertise with analytical tools and digital skillsets for modeling is highly desirable.
Comprehensive understanding of underlying transportation, logistics, and balancing mechanisms.
Thorough expertise in relevant derivative instruments, including futures and swaps.
Extensive knowledge of price concepts and structures, hedging implementation, contractual constraints, and legal frameworks.
Strong emphasis on teamwork and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
