About the Role:
This role is within the Mobile Team, responsible for building next-generation mobile apps for premium Dow Jones brands. As a Manager in Software Engineering, you will lead and support a team of engineers, ensuring the efficiency and quality of deliverables throughout the software development lifecycle. You will track team performance, adjust processes and timelines as needed, and provide regular feedback on career growth and progression. This role involves effective delegation, independent decision-making, and active involvement in technical discussions and project management.
You Will:
Oversee and enhance team productivity by delegating tasks effectively, managing performance, and providing career development feedback.
Lead technical discussions and drive decisions, while managing the technical aspects of the product roadmap and contributing to bug fixes and small features.
Partner with product teams to manage scope and deliverables, focus on high-impact projects, and lead recruiting efforts to determine team headcount.
You Have:
+7 years of experience, with a strong background in iOS and/or Android native mobile development.
At least 1 year of experience managing mobile engineering teams.
Hands-on experience with mobile development technologies, such as Kotlin and Jetpack Compose for Android, or Swift and SwiftUI for iOS.
Proficiency in data structures, system design, design patterns, and API design, with familiarity in MVP or MVVM architectures, declarative UI, Git, and DevOps practices.
A full-stack background is highly desirable, with additional knowledge of cloud services, GraphQL, Firebase, and other relevant technologies being a plus.
Strong ability to drive technical decisions, manage project scope, and collaborate with product teams to align technical solutions with business goals.
A passion for news and the ability to introduce innovative ideas and technologies, with a background in journalism considered advantageous.

Base Pay Range: 70,000 - 90,000
