Our Infrastructure and Capital Projects team has extensive experience of advising our clients on major procurements & complex transactions at the interface of the public and private sectors, from advising on initial commercial/financial strategy, market engagement, planning and running a transaction or procurement, contract structuring and negotiation, all the way through to contract exit and transition.

We are continuing to expand our presence in the UK newly built nuclear market, with a strong focus on the rapidly growing nuclear segment. This is an exciting opportunity for an established professional with significant experience in nuclear new build, capital projects, or complex infrastructure advisory.

The right individual will contribute towards developing and delivering our nuclear advisory services, supporting a diverse range of investors, developers, Governments, OEMs, and major supply-chain participants as they navigate commercial, financial, and delivery challenges in this emerging market. As an Assistant Director in our Infrastructure and Capital Projects team, you will be responsible for managing the delivery of advisory projects for nuclear clients. The role combines project and client delivery, commercial and financial analysis, and the opportunity to help shape Deloittes market offering in this strategically important sector. You will work alongside market-leading Partners and Directors, leading project teams and supporting business development activities across strategy, finance, supply chain, programme delivery, and risk. You will also contribute to business development activities and help to develop junior team members.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the development and execution of Deloittes nuclear advisory strategy within the Infrastructure & Capital Projects team, contributing to a clear go-to-market plan for private sector deployment models.
  • Building and maintaining effective relationships with clients including private equity, infrastructure funds, OEMs, utilities, developers, and supply chain organisations.
  • Supporting origination and delivery of advisory engagements across commercial structuring, supply chain development, financing, delivery strategy, and project readiness.
  • Contributing to Deloittes thought leadership in the sector, supporting the development of market insights, industry forums, and stakeholder engagement activities.
  • Leading and managing project workstreams across commercial strategy, procurement, investment analysis, and programme mobilisation.
  • Supporting clients in decision making.
  • Managing and mentoring junior team members, supporting their development and contributing to a high-performing, inclusive team culture.
  • Collaborating across Strategy, Risk, Transaction Advisory, and Technology & Transformation service lines to deliver integrated nuclear new-build solutions.
  • Contributing to business development activities, including proposal preparation, market research, and supporting Partners/Directors in client pursuits.
  • Contributing to recruitment, capability development, and knowledge management initiatives.

Technical skills and experience:

Essential

  • Significant experience in nuclear new build, SMR programmes, engineering, capital projects, or complex infrastructure advisory.
  • Proven commercial acumen: supply chain strategy, commercial structuring, contracting models, investment cases, procurement, or deal advisory.
  • Familiarity with the UK and international nuclear ecosystem, including vendors, utilities, investors, regulators, and major programme delivery partners.
  • Experience supporting business development and client relationship management, with a track record in project delivery and pipeline support.
  • Strong analytical and financial skills, including the ability to work with financial models and deliver high-quality reports and presentations.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills, with an ability to engage credibly with clients at all levels.
  • Experience leading or managing project teams in complex, high-stakes delivery environments, preferably within the nuclear sector or other highly regulated industries.

Desirable

  • Exposure to leading nuclear technologies (e.g., Rolls-Royce SMR, GE-Hitachi BWRX-300, Westinghouse AP300, EPR, Holtec, or NuScale).
  • Understanding of UK nuclear regulatory frameworks, licensing pathways, and GDA processes.
  • International experience with newly built or reactor deployment programmes.
  • Experience in manufacturing scale-up, modularisation, cost reduction, and industrial strategy.
  • Experience in strategic organisation design, operating model development, or business transformation programmes.

Infrastructure and Real Estate

Our Infrastructure and Real Estate team supports both public and private sector clients on complex infrastructure, real estate, and capital projects. Typical engagements include urban regeneration, transport, energy and renewables, and occupier advisory to central government and large corporate companies.
