Full Job Description

Location: Aarhus C, Denmark

At Danske Bank, we are executing our Turn To New Tech strategy - migrating our stack to cloud-native solutions. One of the most ambitious parts of that journey is replacing a decades-old mainframe archive that holds 44 billion documents and serves hundreds of millions of requests a year. If you thrive on designing large-scale distributed systems, making high-impact architectural decisions, and turning compliance, scale and resilience into pragmatic technical direction - while staying close to the code - we want to hear from you.

You will join the Cloud Archive squad as Solution Architect, owning the technical vision for one of Danske Bank's most critical cloud-transformation programmes. This greenfield archive solution will replace our existing archive system, serving billions of documents and hundreds of millions of requests annually.

What You Will Be Doing

As the architectural owner, you will define the target architecture for a system scaling billions of documents while remaining close to the code. You will work with a dedicated team of software engineers and a product owner in Aarhus, implementing solutions alongside them.

  • Design target and transition architectures for our archive platform
  • Hands-on lead the proofs-of-concepts towards stack modernization
  • Shape technical roadmaps with product owners and enterprise architecture teams
  • Contribute to tribe-wide architecture and engineering standards
  • Collaborate with business, legal, compliance, security and other engineering teams

About You

  • Extensive software engineering experience across backend (more than one tech. stack preferred) and
    ,
    frontend and data-intensive systems
  • Experience with domain-driven design and passion for clean architecture
  • Practical experience building and running cloud-native applications in public cloud (AWS preferred)
  • Strong REST API and event driven architecture design skills
  • Ability to create clear architecture artefacts and align with diverse stakeholders
  • Infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD and frequent production deployments as natural engineering habits
  • Fluent in Danish

Experience with legacy system migration, high-volume data platforms, or financial services would be valuable additions to your background.

What We Offer You

You will work in a hybrid model with 3 to 4 days per week in our Aarhus office, fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing. We offer extensive learning opportunities and career progression in a supportive environment where you can make a significant technical contribution to one of our most important transformation programmes.

Are you ready for the next step?
