Full Job Description
Location: Vilnius, Lithuania
The Developer Experience tribe offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the productivity and satisfaction of developers here at Danske Bank.
We are looking for a Senior Platform Engineer (DevOps) to join the Cloud Automation squad within the Developer Experience Tribe. The squad owns our internal Cloud platform, a multi-cloud provisioning and self-service platform, along with the Terraform provider and integrations that expose it to the rest of the bank's engineering organisation.
We are evolving our platform on a GitOps model, building it ourselves rather than buying it off the shelf. The core of the work is APIs, integrations, controllers, and automation that orchestrate provisioning and operational tasks, exposed through a growing set of interfaces: Backstage, CLIs, MCP servers, and more. This is real software engineering that infrastructure and operational teams will depend on daily, not just wiring together vendor products.
You'll work close to the ground, sitting with infrastructure and operational teams to understand their requirements first-hand and shipping automation that solves their actual problems.
If you're comfortable moving across languages and tools as the problem demands, using AI-assisted development to ramp up quickly wherever the platform needs you, and want to help shape a developer platform from the ground up, this role is for you.
What You Will Be Doing
- Design and build APIs, controllers, and orchestration logic that automate provisioning and operational tasks across the developer platform
- Develop and extend our Cloud platform's Terraform provider and its supporting APIs
- Build and maintain GitOps delivery pipelines using ArgoCD across Kubernetes/OpenShift environments
- Design and implement API integrations that connect the developer platform to our Cloud platform and other internal systems
- Build and extend the platform's interfaces, including Backstage, CLIs, and MCP servers, wherever the platform needs a new surface
- Collaborate directly with infrastructure and operational teams to gather requirements and turn them into working automation
- Use AI-assisted development practices to move quickly across languages and parts of the stack as the platform requires
- Review code and contribute to engineering decisions within the squad, ensuring solutions are maintainable, well-designed, and built to last
About You
At least 5 years of professional experience as a Platform Engineer, DevOps Engineer, or Software Engineer building production software and infrastructure automation
Strong software engineering fundamentals: you write clean, well-designed code, understand design patterns, and can review code with intent, not just correctness
Experience with Python and/or Go; comfortable picking up other languages as needed, especially with the help of AI-assisted development tools
Experience with GitOps practices and tooling (ArgoCD or similar) and with container platforms (Kubernetes, OpenShift)
Experience with cloud environments (AWS preferred) and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), ideally including building or extending Terraform providers
Experience designing and building APIs and integrations that other teams and systems depend on
Able to work directly with infrastructure and operational teams to translate requirements into concrete engineering solutions
Able to work in an environment with evolving requirements, self-directed and structured, comfortable making decisions when the problem isn't fully defined yet
Structured problem solver with excellent communication and stakeholder management skills in English
