Senior OPS Manager, Markets Operations - C13

1. Description

The Senior Manager in Markets Operations is a medium-level management position responsible for leading, overseeing and processing of transactions originating from trading desks for Central America and Caribbean countries. This role operates in close coordination with the operations head in CCA, operations at Country and with the CSC (Citi Services Center) to ensure the seamless and efficient delivery of markets transactions. The incumbent will focus on operational oversight, process improvement, team leadership, and contributing to the overall integrity and compliance of market operations.

2. Responsibilities

  • Manage the daily performance and activities related to Markets operations processes.
  • Develop and implement business initiatives, client solutions, or projects affiliated with Markets settlement processes.
  • Lead efforts to solve complex inquiries, conduct discovery, and complete due diligence activities in response to client requests.
  • Provide detailed analysis of escalated issues when necessary and recommend actionable solutions for resolution.
  • Develop and implement business plans, policies, and procedures that offer solutions and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Propose and drive solutions to implement settlement process improvements, enhance client service, or lead overall technology enhancements.
  • Coordinate with internal clients to assess service quality and identify areas for improvement.
  • Represent Operations functions on required country governance escalations and committees, acting as a single point of contact for the country's operational governance.
  • Lead and partner in Business reviews across Operations to ensure a cohesive process and strategic alignment.
  • Analyze, summarize regulatory exam findings, and action information, communicating status, key highlights, and watch items effectively to senior management.
  • Actively represent Operations with country regulators, involving the team in internal and external audits as the designated country single point of contact.
  • Serve as a key liaison for the Markets Operations control forum, enabling countries to report, escalate issues, and support overall business strategy.
  • Ensure a proper framework is established and maintained at the country level to implement any new local or global regulatory requirements, new products, procedures changes, and updates.
  • Ensure timely escalation of significant Operations risk events and serve as the Point of Contact for reviews, requests, and issues related to failed controls or regulatory penalties.
  • Support Regulatory Standards and lead efforts for ad hoc and periodic reporting needs related to regulatory concerns or issues.
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets. This includes driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervising the activity of others and creating accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.

3. Qualifications

  • 6-10 years of relevant experience in Markets Operations or a related financial services field.
  • Proven people management experience, including leading and developing teams.
  • Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication skills.
  • Fluency in Spanish and English is required.

4. Education

  • Bachelors degree/University degree or equivalent experience is required.
  • A Masters degree is preferred.
