Senior OPS Lead, Markets Operations - C14 -

Description: The Senior Lead in Markets Operations is a critical senior-level position responsible for overseeing and processing of transactions originating from trading desks for Central America and Caribbean countries. This role requires close coordination with the operations at Country and with the CSC (Citi Services Center) to ensure the efficient clearance, settlement, and investigation of client transactions. The incumbent will play a pivotal role in maintaining operational excellence, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting strategic business initiatives within a dynamic market environment.

2. Responsibilities

  • Serve as a strategic partner with business, applying analytical and procedural expertise to enhance the settlement cycle while supporting a diverse range of internal and external clients.
  • Contribute to short- to medium-term planning, effectively controlling resources, managing budgets, and participating in policy formulation and strategic planning for Markets Operations.
  • Lead and participate in business reviews, providing insightful analysis and summaries to key stakeholders to drive informed decision-making.
  • Analyze and summarize regulatory examination findings, ensuring clarity and actionable insights for operations.
  • Actively support and contribute to the broader business strategy, identifying opportunities for operational alignment and efficiency.
  • Manage complex and variable settlement-related issues, liaising effectively with multiple internal teams and departments to define problems, develop innovative solutions, and streamline processes. Lead change-the-bank settlement projects, driving initiatives from conception to implementation.
  • Represent Operations effectively with country regulators, ensuring transparent communication and adherence to local and global regulatory standards.
  • Implement and adapt to any new local or global regulatory requirements, procedures, changes, and updates, ensuring continuous compliance across all operational activities.
  • Closely monitor industry trends, identify potential cost savings opportunities, and cultivate strong, effective relationships with clients and key stakeholders.
  • Increase productivity and operational efficiencies by presenting data-driven insights and analyzing validated information to develop and implement new solutions, ensuring the integrity of processes, operations, and end results.
  • Oversee and manage governance forums, ensuring effective participation and contribution.
  • Manage and oversee issue reporting processes, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely escalation.
  • Contribute to and monitor the Executive Scorecard, providing critical operational data and insights.
  • Ensure timely escalation of operational incidents, risks, and issues to relevant stakeholders and management.
  • Act as a primary Point of Contact for Independent Compliance Risk reviews, requests, and issues, facilitating effective communication and resolution.
  • Support adherence to Regulatory Standards and lead efforts in meeting periodic reporting needs, ensuring all submissions are accurate and timely.
  • Assist with overseeing the risk control environment, ensuring compliance efforts adhere to established policies and procedures, and staying abreast of Citi's operational processes and best practices in business strategy.
  • Serve as an advisor and coach to new or junior-level staff, providing guidance on procedures and work processes across multiple departments.
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients, and assets. This includes driving compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct, and business practices, and escalating, managing, and reporting control issues with transparency.

3. Qualifications

  • 10+ years of relevant experience in Markets Operations or a related field.
  • Senior to advanced level experience in a related role is preferred.
  • Demonstrated subject matter expertise in one or more areas of financial operations, particularly Markets, securities and derivatives settlement.
  • Proven strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and translate it into actionable insights.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage various concurrent activities and projects effectively within a high-risk environment.
  • Effective project management, negotiation, and influencing skills.
  • Consistently demonstrated clear, concise, and persuasive written and verbal communication skills.
  • Fluency in Spanish and English is required.

4. Education

  • Bachelors degree/University degree or equivalent experience is required.
  • A Masters degree is preferred.
