PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:

The Lead Technology Program Manager is a strategic professional responsible for directing technology programs and initiatives. This role ensures the timely implementation of programs, compliance with program management principles, and achievement of financial targets. Success in this position requires excellent communication and diplomacy skills to guide, influence, and negotiate effectively with senior internal stakeholders.

DEVELOPMENT VALUE:

This role offers significant senior exposure and provides extensive experience in managing complex, high-priority, and visible cross-franchise programs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Strategic Program & Investment Management

  • Supports the planning, direction, and coordination of day-to-day activities for a program or portfolio of programs."
  • Directs the creation of multiple work programs, ensuring alignment with business goals and linkage to approved Investment Requests
  • Ensures program plans meet business needs as described in the program initiation documents and works with the Program Sponsor to ensure the business case/cost benefit analysis is in line with business objectives.

Stakeholder and Communications Management

  • Identifies key stakeholders and organizations to build and manage relationships.
  • Facilitates, coordinates, and arbitrates complex cross-functional topics across programs and with senior management
  • Leads communication of status, issue, and risk disposition to all stakeholders, including senior management, on a timely basis.

Financial and Benefits Management

  • Ensures program funding is approved and linked to official Investment Requests
  • Manages program financials, including budgeting, forecasting, and resource allocation. Ensures all program areas are appropriately staffed and that necessary commitment is secured.
  • Drives the quantification and realization of program benefits (e.g., cost savings, risk reduction, revenue growth) in collaboration with the Investment Sponsor and Finance Leads.

Risk and Issue Management

  • Directs the identification of risks which impact program delivery and ensures robust mitigation strategies are developed and executed when necessary.
  • Leads the identification and drives the resolution of issues, including those outside established programs of work, and escalates program risks to the Program Director or Program Sponsor when appropriate.
  • Assesses risk for business decisions, considering the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup's clients and assets. This includes ensuring compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations; adhering to policy; applying sound ethical judgment in personal behaviour, conduct, and business practices; and escalating, managing, and transparently reporting control issues.

PTS (Project Tracking System) Activities

  • Manages and updates all required information within PTS, including Schedule, RAG (Red, Amber, Green) status, Risks, Issues, KPIs (Key Performance Indicators), Status, Dependencies, and Changes.
  • Conducts monthly PM Attestation to confirm resource allocations align with work effort objectives.
  • Documents and maintains all Business-Critical Milestones (BCMs) and their associated dependencies within PTS.
  • Monitors and maintains project progress against the baseline schedule and milestones through to completion within PTS.
  • Ensures all project risks and issues are accurately recorded and managed through closure within PTS.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 10+ years of experience in program management. Citi experience is a plus.
  • Demonstrated experience of managing and successfully delivering complex projects/ programs.
  • Demonstrated commitment to quality and attention to detail.
  • CAPM, PMP, PgMP are a plus

COMPETENCIES / SKILLS:

  • Execution/delivery focus with a willingness to challenge the status-quo
  • Strong leadership skills to drive execution of a complex program(s)
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Problem-Solving and Strong analytical skills to diagnose complex problems, identify root causes, and develop effective solutions.
  • Negotiation & Persuasion: Ability to negotiate effectively with stakeholders to reach a mutually beneficial agreement and persuade others to adopt a particular course of action.
  • Adaptability & Resilience: Capacity to adapt to changing circumstances, handle setbacks and maintain a positive outlook under pressure.
  • Strong risk management mindset
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills; including PowerPoint, Visio, and Project

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelors/University degree or equivalent experience; a Master's degree is a potential plus.
