Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Process & Process Safety Engineer to join our team at BP Egypt Company (EP). This role will be crucial in optimizing our process operations, ensuring the highest standards of safety, and contributing to a culture of continuous improvement and inclusive collaboration.

Candidate will provide advanced Process and Process Safety (P&PS) engineering expertise to the asset, supporting the effective identification, assessment, and management of process safety risks to ensure safe, reliable, and compliant operations.
Act as a key technical contributor within the P&PS Engineering team, applying strong engineering judgment to address complex process and process safety challenges, and supporting risk reduction, asset integrity, and production performance.

Lead the development and implementation of robust, pragmatic engineering solutions for complex and non-routine issues, supporting Operations Support and cross-functional teams in resolving technical challenges and improving asset performance.
Candidate will work closely with the P&PS Team Lead and wider engineering and operations teams to ensure effective integration of process safety requirements into day-to-day operations, modifications, and projects, while contributing to continuous improvement and capability development within the discipline.

Job Responsibilities

-Provide advanced P&PS engineering expertise for complex and non-routine technical challenges across the asset
-Lead and review:
*Engineering calculations and analyses
*Process safety studies (HAZOP, LOPA, What-if, etc.)
*Provide P&PS input to:
*MoCs, brownfield modifications, and projects
*Deviations from standards and technical practices
*Design reviews and procurement of complex systems
-Ensure asset process safety risks are understood, controlled, and continuously reduced
Support and assure:
*Operating envelope management (SOL/SDL monitoring and response)
*SCE performance and risk assessments (SORA, ORA, HITRA)
*Process safety documentation integrity and updates
-Lead or support:
*Incident investigations (IRIS / equivalent)
*Defect elimination and reliability improvements
*Resolution of complex, multi-discipline technical issues
-Support:
*QRA / MAR revalidation activities
*Delivery of OMS requirements (e.g., OMS 6.1)
*Closure of actions from audits, HAZOP/LOPA, learning systems, and studies
-Maintain and update process simulation models (e.g., HYSYS)
-Capture and share lessons learned to drive continuous improvement

Job requirements:

- This role is only for Egyptian nationals.

-BSc in Chemical Engineering or relevant engineering discipline
-Professional accreditation (Chartered Engineer / Professional Engineer) or at least working toward it
- 12 to 15  years experience in process or process safety engineering (or similar role)
-Extensive experience in process and process safety engineering in upstream / operating environments
-Strong technical understanding of:
*Process hazard analysis (HAZOP, LOPA)
*Risk management tools (Bow-tie, QRA / MAR)
*Process modelling (e.g., HYSYS)
-Proven ability to apply engineering standards and technical practices in operations and projects
-Demonstrated experience in:
Management of Change (MoC)
Incident investigation
Process safety assurance and SCE management
Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills


Travel Requirement

Up to 10% travel should be expected with this role
