About the Team

BlackRock Manager Research (BMR) sits within the Multi-Asset Strategies and Solutions (MASS) group at BlackRock. BMR generates alpha through disciplined manager research, selection and monitoring across public and private asset classes.The BMR Technology & Data Solutions function develops scalable technology, data, and automation capabilities that enhance the efficiency, quality, and consistency of the manager research process.

Role Summary

The Associate within BMR Technology & Data Solutions will design, build, and maintain data, automation, and analytics solutions that support BMR investment workflows across public and private markets. The role partners closely with investment, research, and data science stakeholders to reduce manual effort, improve data quality, and enable AI-driven research and monitoring.

Sitting at the intersection of research, data engineering, automation, and applied AI, this role owns end-to-end solutions that directly support investment decision-making and operational rigor.

Key Responsibilities

Data Automation & Engineering

  • Design, build, and maintain automation solutions to improve data quality, scalability, and operational efficiency across workflows.

Application & Dashboard Development

  • Develop and support internal data applications and dashboards used by research and investment teams, including performance and analyticsmonitoring applications.

  • Build tools using Python, StreamlitAirtable, Tableau, and internal data platforms, ensuring usability, reliability, and maintainability.

Research Data Coverage & Enablement

  • Maintain and enhance research data coverage through relationships with internal and external data sources / vendors.

  • Partner with investment and research stakeholders to ensure data outputs are accurate, complete, and aligned with research needs.

AI-Enabled Research & Innovation

  • Lead data automation for AI-enabled research workflows

  • Develop and prototype AI and LLM-based solutions to streamline document processing, data extraction, and research workflows using APIs, Python, and schema-bound extraction approaches.

Ownership & Stakeholder Partnership

  • Act as technical owner for deployed tools and automations, ensuring ongoing maintenance and enhancements, data accuracy and reliability, and continuous improvement based on stakeholder feedback.

  • Partner closely with team leadership, stakeholders, and data science teams to translate investment and research needs into scalable technical solutions.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Strong programming skills in Python  (4+ years of relevant experience)

  • Interest in financial markets and investment analytics

  • Familiarity with AI and ML concepts and applied LLM use cases in production or proof-of-concept environments.

  • Experience with data visualization and analytics tools such as TableauPowerBI and Streamlit.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to operate independently with minimal oversight.

  • Excellent communication skills and comfort partnering with both technical and investment stakeholders.
