Role Overview

Lead and scale a high-performing UK Technology Banking team across London and key regional hubs, driving a cohesive, national growth strategy
Define and execute a sector strategy to materially increase market share, income, and balance sheet growth (deposits and lending) within the UK Tech market

Strategic Leadership & Growth

Design and deliver commercial growth strategies targeting high-value Tech clients and emerging opportunities
Own end-to-end performance outcomes, including revenue generation, portfolio growth, and client acquisition
Influence and shape target market strategy and policy, ensuring alignment with broader corporate and risk frameworks
Monitor and actively manage financial performance, including revenue, profitability, and cost control across the TMT portfolio

Stakeholder Management & Collaboration

Partner cross-functionally with Corporate Banking, Investment Banking, Large Corporate Lending, Credit Risk, Portfolio, Product and Marketing teams to unlock client opportunities
Collaborate with international banking teams to drive global connectivity and deliver integrated client solutions
Leverage business development functions to originate and convert new-to-bank opportunities

Client & Market Leadership

Act as Barclays senior representative to the UK Tech ecosystem, building strong relationships with:
o Founders and CEOs
o Investors and venture capital/private equity firms
o Advisers, brokers and complementary lenders

Drive external engagement and brand positioning, including:
o Industry events and conferences
o Thought leadership and publications
o Sector insights and market commentary

Lead senior client relationships across the TMT sector, acting as a trusted advisor to key clients and stakeholders
Conduct ongoing market analysis of sector trends, competitive dynamics, and regulatory developments to inform strategy and client engagement

Leadership & Capability

Thoughtfully lead, develop and inspire a team of specialist bankers, fostering a high-performance, client-centric culture
Embed deep sector expertise, positioning Barclays as a leading banking partner to the UK Tech market

Purpose of the role

To develop the strategic direction for relationship teams, including the implementation of up to date methodologies and processes. 

Accountabilities

  • Management of relationship teams, including oversight of colleagues and their performance, implementation of goals and objectives, oversight of efficiency and effectiveness.  .
  • Development and maintenance of strong relationships with the broader Barclays group to promote seamless working across all channels and segments and to support an integrated business planning process.
  • Management of all risk aspects including conduct and credit risk, ensuring all team members are fully compliant to enhance great customer outcomes.
  • Monitoring the financial performance of relationship teams, including revenue, profitability, and cost control.
  • Conducting thorough market research to understand client needs, market trends, competitive landscape, and regulatory changes to identify growth opportunities.

  • Escalates breaches of policies / procedure appropriately.
  • Foster and guide compliance, ensure regulations are observed that relevant processes in place to facilitate adherence.
  • Focus on the external environment, regulators, or advocacy groups to both monitor and influence on behalf of Barclays, when appropriate.
  • Demonstrate extensive knowledge of how the function integrates with the business division / Group to achieve the overall business objectives.
