Full Job Description
Assist the Building Engineer in our 300,000 RSF commercial property in Hamilton, Bermuda. You will play a central role in ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of all building systems. You will support daytoday facilities operations, deliver a high standard of service to tenants, and help maintain the longterm value and performance of the asset. This role requires robust technical capability, sound judgment, and a proactive approach to building operations and maintenance. What youll be DOING What will your essential responsibilities include? Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot all major building systems, including HVAC, refrigeration, electrical, plumbing, fire/life safety, vertical transportation, and building automation systems. Conduct routine Maintenance inspections of mechanical rooms, equipment, and common areas to ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and operational standards. Perform preventive and corrective maintenance, to all mechanical systems ensuring work is completed efficiently, documented accurately, and aligned with manufacturer's recommendations and internal procedures. Respond to tenant service requests, diagnose issues, and resolve problems promptly while maintaining a professional, customer-focused approach. Support vendor and contractor oversight, including coordinating access, monitoring work quality, and ensuring adherence to building policies and safety requirements. Assist with capital and operational projects, including equipment upgrades, system replacements, and energy efficiency initiatives. Maintain accurate records, including logs, work orders, equipment histories, and compliance documentation. Participate in emergency response activities, including after-hours support for critical incidents, weather events, or system failures. Promote a culture of safety, ensuring all work is performed in accordance with regulatory requirements, internal standards, and best practices. Must hold a refrigerant handling license/certified technician under the clean air act. You will report to the The Building Operations Manager. What you will BRING Were looking for someone who has these abilities and skills: Required Skills and Abilities: Technical training or certification in HVAC, electrical, mechanical, or building systems; refrigerant handling license required. Extensive experience in commercial building operations and facilities maintenance ability to be readily available to respond to emergencies as they arise. Robust working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and control systems, with the ability to diagnose and resolve issues independently. Experience with building automation systems (BAS). Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and equipment manuals. Outstanding communication skills and a commitment to delivering excellent tenant service. Ability to work without supervision, manage multiple priorities, and respond effectively in urgent or unexpected situations. Physical capability to perform handson maintenance tasks, including lifting, climbing, and working in mechanical spaces.
