Our Practice Solutions team leads the Firms innovation initiatives, supporting our lawyers in client delivery excellence. The team has deep expertise in working with established and emerging technologies, data analytics and data science, knowledge solutions and process re-engineering. The Practice Solutions team works with our lawyers to identify innovative solutions to support our clients. Through fostering a Firmwide culture of innovation, we encourage our lawyers to think creatively about how to deliver the best value to our clients and we ensure that White & Case remains at the forefront of advancements in the legal industry.

We are seeking a highly motivated and technically skilled Manager, Innovation and AI to join our team in either our Melbourne or Sydney office. You will be an integral part of our firm's practice technology team, responsible for leading the development and implementation of technology solutions that enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of our legal practice.

This position will lead, oversee, coordinate and track project progress and workflow during the entire lifecycle of the matter; designing solutions and workflows; managing vendor relationships and coordinating complex projects; drafting project proposals and provide status reports; providing end user support and customer service; troubleshooting issues as they arise. This is a technical role, requiring familiarity with day-to-day operations and use of practice facing legal technology including document automation, Transactional AI, and matter management.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead the implementation, roll-out and adoption of transactional practice technologies across matters and practice groups

  • Coordinate with IT, procurement and other business services teams to ensure legal tech solutions are properly integrated with firm systems, processes and data

  • Lead testing of new tools, gather and manage feedback, and develop best practices for AI-enabled and automation technologies

  • Plan and execute the use of legal technology on specific client matters, working closely with partners, associates, PSLs and legal assistants to define scope and priorities

  • Manage relationships with legal tech vendors, including negotiating terms, overseeing their work and maintaining strong knowledge of their platforms

  • Provide day-to-day guidance to matter teams on optimal use of legal technology, including recommendations, project plans and budgets

  • Support attorneys in client-facing technology discussions, including preparing for IT interviews and developing tailored questionnaires

  • Oversee project delivery to ensure quality, efficiency and successful outcomes for clients

  • Travel (domestic and international) may be required to support matters and project delivery

Key experience required:

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent experience, ideally with a technical or legal focus

  • 3-5 years experience in legal technology, professional services or a related field

  • Experience with legal tech tools and platforms (for example transaction management, collaboration and AI solutions) and an understanding of workflows in M&A, capital markets and banking practices

  • Proven change management, training and user adoption experience in a large law firm or similar professional services environment

  • Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple matters and priorities with high professionalism, leadership and client service orientation

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with senior lawyers, clients and vendors

  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage time and resources to meet or exceed agreed service levels
