Full Job Description

The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in executive protection, travel security, and physical security, with the ability to translate strategy into practical operating models, procedures, and repeatable execution. This role will report to The Head of Executive Prortection. This individual will partner across Global Security, business leadership, travel, facilities, event teams, external providers, and law enforcement partners to strengthen preparedness, reduce risk, and enable business operations.

Global Risk and Security (GR&S) at Vanguard enables business strategy, protects client and Vanguard interests (e.g., assets and data), and stewards a strong risk culture. Within GR&S, the Enterprise Security and Fraud (ES&F) sub-division is responsible for the global protection of Vanguard crew, property, data, and client assets. Core Responsibilities

  • Support the development and execution of Executive Protection, Travel Security, and Event Security programs, including program structure, operating procedures, standards, and performance measures.
  • Help build scalable and proactive security capabilities that are risk-based, intelligence-led, and aligned with business needs.
  • Coordinate protective planning for executive movements, domestic and international travel, corporate events, and elevated-risk engagements.
  • Conduct or oversee threat, risk, and vulnerability assessments to inform protective posture, travel guidance, event coverage, and physical security recommendations.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders and external providers to ensure clear planning, operational readiness, and consistent execution across all three programs.
  • Develop and maintain program documentation, including SOPs, checklists, after-action reports, playbooks, and briefing materials.
  • Support incident response, escalation, and coordination during travel disruptions, security concerns, executive protection missions, and event-related issues.
  • Identify program gaps, recommend improvements, and drive continuous improvement through lessons learned, metrics, and stakeholder feedback.
  • Promote a culture of discretion, professionalism, accountability, and proactive risk management.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of five years related work experience. Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience. Graduate degree preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in executive protection, travel security, and physical security.
  • Strong understanding of protective operations, advance work, secure transportation, event security planning, travel risk management, and security operations.
  • Experience developing or improving security programs, procedures, playbooks, operating models, or governance processes.
  • Ability to assess risk, make sound decisions under pressure, and adapt quickly to changing schedules, environments, and operational priorities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear briefings, reports, and executive-ready documentation.
  • Proven ability to collaborate across functions and build trusted relationships with internal partners, external vendors, and public safety partners.
  • High degree of discretion, judgment, professionalism, and integrity when handling sensitive information and supporting senior leaders.
  • Corporate security, law enforcement, military, intelligence, emergency management, or protective services background.
  • Experience supporting executives, senior leaders, board members, high-profile events, or global travel operations.
  • Familiarity with physical security assessments, access control, CCTV, secure transportation, hotel security, and venue security planning.
  • Relevant security, risk management, executive protection, emergency response, or medical certifications.
  • Experience building new programs or modernizing existing security functions in a complex corporate environment.
