Role Summary

Application Engineering Tech lead role within International Systems & Technology to provide expert-level leadership across a broad set of platforms and capabilities. This role is responsible for driving the direction, evaluation, selection, configuration, implementation, and integration of both new and existing technologies.

As a key technical authority, you will lead complex design and delivery efforts, guide solution architecture decisions, and ensure the viability and quality of IT deliverables. You will operate across multiple teams, influencing technical strategy, mentoring engineers, and partnering with stakeholders to deliver scalable, secure, and resilient solutions that support Workplace objectives.

The selected candidate will provide technical leadership to our new IPE team which will be responsible for building and maintaining global capabilities at scale. This initiative will provide an excellent opportunity to deliver value for our current state applications and leverage the knowledge and experience to build new platforms for our global consumers. This role will also provide an opportunity to contribute to multiyear strategic vision for IPE.

The ideal candidate is responsible for leading the technical direction, stability of complex applications within IPE. The role emphasizes technical leadership over hands-on coding, focusing on mentoring others, guiding architectural decisions, and resolving complex system challenges. This position requires a highly adaptable technologist who can navigate multiple technologies, influence outcomes, and accelerate delivery by using AI in a fast-paced, high-priority environment.


Responsibilities

  • Provides expert-level IT technical leadership and direction for complex software, middleware, and hardware initiatives across multiple platforms; delivers hands-on expertise in design, development, implementation, architecture, and ongoing maintenance.

  • Ensures the viability and quality of IT deliverables by recommending development and architectural approaches, approving technical outputs, and overseeing testing across functionality, performance, and security; supports production systems as needed.

  • Stay deeply handson. Contribute to design and implementation, review code and technical changes, and lead by example through strong engineering practices.

  • Leverage cloudfirst and AIassisted engineering practices. Use modern cloud platforms and AIenabled tools to reduce friction, improve code quality, and accelerate delivery.

  • Collaborate closely with the Delivery Manager and Product partners. Align on technical direction, sequencing, and dependencies to support effective delivery.

  • Drive technical design for team initiatives. Translate product direction and architectural guidance into clear technical approaches that engineers can execute with confidence.

  • Evaluates and approves technical solutions, resolving complex issues and guiding teams through root cause analysis and remediation; proactively anticipates and mitigates risks, preventing issues before they impact delivery.

  • Partners with stakeholders to communicate project implications, assess the impact of changes, and influence technical and architectural decisions across teams.

  • Maintains deep knowledge of development methodologies, architecture, and emerging technologies; mentors team members, drives adoption of standards and best practices, and contributes to strategic product roadmaps.

  • Reviews and approves technical documentation, ensuring clarity, completeness, and alignment with established standards.

  • Identifies and drives continuous improvement opportunities across technical standards, tools, and delivery methodologies.

  • Contributes hands-on to development activities, producing well-structured, maintainable code supported by automated testing and modern development practices.

  • Enhances team productivity through collaboration, reuse of frameworks, and adoption of scalable engineering patterns and tooling.

  • Ensures compliance with IT and Information Security policies, validating that deliverables meet required standards and contributing to ongoing policy enhancements.

  • Applies broad understanding of business functions (front, middle, and back office) and external partners to design solutions that enable efficient, controlled business processes.

  • Participates in special projects and additional responsibilities as needed.


Qualifications and Skills

  • Minimum 8 years of experience in software development, architecture, and system integration.

  • Bachelors degree (B.E./B.Tech) in Computer Science or IT, or Bachelors in Computer Applications (BCA), or Masters in Computer Applications (MCA).

  • Expertise in software architecture, system design, and technical leadership for enterprise and delivering production-grade software in cloud-based environments.

  • Demonstrated technical leadership through handson contribution, mentoring, and technical guidance

  • A qualityfirst mindset, with experience building reliable, scalable, and observable systems

  • Comfort using AIassisted engineering tools to improve developer productivity, code quality, and delivery flow

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering managers, product partners, and crossfunctional stakeholders

  • Experience with frontend development technologies (Angular/React, JavaScript/Typescript, CSS, Jest)

  • Proficiency in NodeJS Typescript/JavaScript development

  • Proficiency in development with Java and Spring framework.

  • Experience with Python

  • Proficiency in Event Driven Architecture (Medallion Architecture)

  • Proficiency in Data Engineering focusing on Data Ingestion, Transformation and Load

  • Proficiency in DevOps concepts, tools and continuous delivery pipelines, specifically Git and GitHub
