Full Job Description
Main Purpose
As a Disbursements Analyst, you will play a key role in the financial operations of Trafiguras shipping division. You will handle and validate port cost disbursements across a diverse fleet spanning Oil, Gas, and Dry Cargo. Your decisions will have a direct impact on the Groups profitabilityeach analysis, negotiation, and challenge you make helps protect the bottom line. In this role, you'll be able to make quick decisions that directly impact profitability through sharp analysis, smart cost management, and clear communication with agents, owners, and internal teams. Through your role, you will ensure compliance, cost control, and timely reporting.
You will be part of the Athens-based Disbursements Team, reporting to the Disbursements Team Leader.
Key Responsibilities
Analyse, validate, and process proforma and final disbursement accounts (DAs)
Review charter party terms to determine cost allocation between counterparties
Compare charges against budgets and contractual agreements
Identify and challenge discrepancies and unauthorized expenses
Maintain up-to-date and accurate data across internal systems
Follow up with port agents for outstanding DAs and supporting documents
Process payments, reconcile accounts, and maintain clean financial records
Support internal audits and provide timely financial reporting
Communicate clearly with agents, owners, and internal teams to resolve issues
Report cost status, variances, and concerns to management
Contribute to process improvements that enhance accuracy and efficiency
Required Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Shipping, Economics, or a related subject
Understanding of port costs function and vessel operations
Familiarity with charter party terms and conditions (spot charters)
Excellent proficiency in MS Office suite
Fluent English (C2 level or equivalent), both written and spoken
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in Shipping, Economics, Finance, or a related field
Additional experience in tanker operations fundamentals
Familiarity with charter party clauses linked to port expenses
Experience with shipping ERP systems (IMOS) or disbursement management software
Previous interaction with agents, traders, or operation teams
