Responsibilities

We are looking for a Senior Research Associate to join Bernsteins premier Equity Research team covering US Payments, Processors and IT Services (e.g. Mastercard, PayPal, Block, Visa, Toast, Adyen, Klarna).  If you have a passion for research and are interested in building a long-term career in the investing world, theres no better place to start than Bernstein.  We seek candidates who love to solve problems, analyze data, and are passionate about in-depth fundamental analysis. We offer a unique opportunity to become an industry expert as you work alongside a seasoned veteran who will mentor and develop you. These roles offer a path to more senior opportunities within Bernstein.

As a Senior Research Associate, you will:

Become an industry expert working one-on-one with a Senior Analyst who has 15 years of prior industry experience

Become highly proficient at in-depth analysis of your companies, stocks, and industry themes

Author highly differentiated written research that is famous for its deep industry insights and quantitative frameworks

Become adept at financial forecasting, including building detailed forward-looking models

Build strong relationships across the investing community including our sales and trading teams and institutional clients

Build a network within your industry including senior managements of your companies

Act as team COO and actively manage your franchises workflow

We have an outstanding Associate program and make a strong commitment to your development. Our culture is intellectually rigorous, but it is also very collegial and fun. We have robust learning and development programs as well as annual offsite events. We offer a flexible work schedule, but our in-office environment is very active. Our Associates are highly involved in (and often lead) our firms cultural initiatives, ranging from health & wellness, community service, mentoring, employee resource groups, social events, and Associate leadership.

The role is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus and includes a competitive benefits package including 401(k) plan with company match, Medical/Dental/Vision, and other benefits for fertility, wellness, student loans and commuters. Actual base salary offer will vary based on skills and experience.

Profile required

For our Senior Research Associate roles, we look for candidates with thought leadership, intellectual breadth, quantitative rigor and a differentiated approach to solving problems. We carefully consider your academic background as well as any prior work experience for evidence of the following:

Basic Qualifications

Relentless intellectual curiosity and an aptitude for solving complex problems

Organic leadership and an entrepreneurial mindset

Demonstrated outstanding verbal and written communication skills

Strong quantitative skills and ability to work with data sets, including STEM undergraduate degrees

       Best-in-class broad-based analytical skills

Willingness to own work and maintain accountability

       Collaborative, team-player attitude

       MBA or equivalent experience

Preferred Qualifications

Expertise or an interest in tech, payments, and fintech.

       Experience analyzing public companies

Demonstrated experience working with clients in a professional service environment

We provide an intellectually challenging but supportive environment and look for leaders who are happy to collaborate and pitch in wherever needed. Our Associate positions have historically been excellent platforms for internal advancement to Vice President and Senior Analyst roles; we also have many Associates go on to successful investing careers with our clients.
