About the role

You will oversee, manage, and maintain software applications, ensuring optimal performance and compliance with relevant regulations.

On-call: You will be part of a 5-person team with an on-call rotation, meaning on-call duty is typically every fifth week.

Your responsibilities will include
  • Application deployment and maintenance, monitoring and performance optimisation, capacity planning, security, and compliance
  • Resolving application-related issues, providing technical support to other organisational units, and mentoring junior administrators
  • Performing performance tuning and optimisation, including root cause analysis in complex environments
  • Supporting application migration initiatives to Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
  • Supporting the adoption of AI tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot) to improve operational efficiency, automation, and productivity
To thrive in this role, we believe you have

Must have

  • Hands-on experience with middleware and application platforms in production environments
  • Scripting skills to automate operational tasks
  • Understanding of application and platform security (e.g., TLS, certificates, authentication/authorisation)
  • Troubleshooting and performance tuning skills, able to analyse distributed systems and identify root causes
  • Work proficient communication skills in English (written and spoken)
  • Collaborative mindset and ownership, including supporting colleagues and building trust with stakeholders

Nice to have

  • Experience with container orchestration platforms (OpenShift/Kubernetes)
  • Experience with cloud migration initiatives, ideally to Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
  • Experience with event streaming or messaging technologies (e.g., Redpanda, Sonic, or similar)
  • Interest in applying AI tools to improve operational efficiency and automation
Tech stack you will work with
Java/Tomcat applications, container orchestration (OpenShift/Kubernetes), and event streaming or messaging technologies (Redpanda, Sonic, or similar).
