Director Multinational and Corporate Banking

Purpose

Multinational Banking is a key growth pillar of Scotiabanks refreshed strategy, which entails the delivery of a differentiated and consistent client experience across our footprint, placing the client at the center of our service model, regardless of where they choose to do business.

In partnership with Parent Account Managers (PAMs) and Operations Account Managers (OAMs), the Director Multinational and Corporate Banking will act as the lead Subsidiary Account Manager (SAM) for the country and will manage, directly and through a team or Relationship Managers (RMs), the local subsidiaries at the country/local level and support Parent Account Managers in developing and implementing global account plans & service delivery in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures.

 

Accountabilities

Leads and drives a customer focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.

Leads and coordinates the efforts of RMs in collaboration with leadership, country teams, and key internal stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of the enhanced Multinationals value proposition to in-country foreign subsidiary clients.

Oversees and fosters collaboration with Parent Account Managers (PAMs) and Operations Account Managers (OAMs) in developing holistic global account plans and executing multi-product and service delivery to grow the global relationship with multinational clients.

Ensures the team maintains a strong knowledge of Scotiabanks local and global platforms, product capabilities, operational processes, and risk frameworks to enable effective cross-product and cross-regional relationship management and pipeline origination.

Oversees a business pipeline to drive revenue generation and deliver against annual budget targets set by MNC/GBM/IB leadership.

 

Supports cross-border client initiatives in collaboration with SAMs and RMs from other countries to unlock incremental revenue opportunities and enhance client coverage across the banks footprint.

Stays keenly aware of the changing macro environment and regulatory landscape and their impact on the industry and portfolio as well as to identify potential future opportunities.

Understands how the Banks risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

Creates an environment in which the team pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.

Builds a high-performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment, communicating vison/values/business strategy and managing succession and development planning for the team.

 

Education:

Bachelors or Masters Degree in Business, Finance, Math, Engineering, Economics, Science or Technology.

Bilingual or advance English Level

Knowledge of all lending and non-lending products and credit processes to facilitate prompt execution of transactions.

Knowledge of other GBM product areas including Investment Banking, Debt Capital Markets, Risk Solutions, Foreign Exchange and Global Transaction Banking.

Strong understanding of financial markets and sector/product knowledge.

Strong structuring, credit, and financial analysis skills.

Credit and/or banking experience.

Strong marketing, negotiation, organizational, communication and credit evaluation skills.

Experience in managing Multinational client accounts.
