About the Role

The Sustainability function at Rabobank Australia translates and embeds sustainability across the Banks strategy, supporting delivery of commitments related to climate, nature, and people. It enables the business to manage risks, capture opportunities, and meet regulatory requirements as part of Rabobanks role as a transition bank.

The team provides data, tools, education, and subject matter expertise to help reduce environmental and social impacts while supporting informed decision-making and sustainable product development.

This role supports the Sustainability function in advancing the Banks and clients transition. It focuses on building capability among frontline Account Managers to reduce portfolio impacts, strengthen resilience, and unlock opportunities, including within supply chains.

The Sustainability Supply Chain Facilitator works closely with frontline teams on client engagement and delivery of transition programs, driving farm practice changes aligned with transition goals. This includes supporting emissions baselines and action plans, climate risk mitigation, nature-related initiatives, and broader sustainability practice improvements.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:  

  • Supporting frontline staff to facilitate client transition activity. This may include sharing of data insights, supporting land stewardship, emissions reduction plans, engaging on sustainable finance product propositions and supporting policy and regulatory compliance.
  • Co-ordinating the Rabo Land Stewardship Award program
  • Assisting in the implementation of knowledge and capability uplift for frontline staff and clients in sustainability related subject matters.
  • Provide subject matter expertise related to sustainability in the ag and food sectors.
  • Supporting educational initiatives related to sustainability practices for both staff and clients.
  • Developing and promoting the use of tools and resources for informed decision-making.
  • Supporting the collection of farm emissions and nature data and supporting approaches to generate data insights for clients
  • Assisting in developing client level strategies to mitigate climate and nature -related risks.
  • Supporting assessments and mitigation plans related to climate risk assessments.
  • Engaging across Wholesale and Country Banking to facilitate supply chain initiatives that support transition.

About You

  • Bachelors degree or Tertiary qualifications in environmental science, sustainability, social sciences, or other relevant disciplines.    Experience:
  • Prior experience in sustainability-related roles, preferably within the banking or financial sector.
  • Familiarity with sustainable practices, climate change mitigation, and environmental impact assessment.
  • Experience working with clients or stakeholders to drive sustainable initiatives.

Knowledge:

  • In-depth understanding of sustainability principles, circular economy, and environmental conservation.
  • Knowledge of financial products and services, as well as their impact on sustainability.
  • Awareness of regional environmental challenges and regulations.    Skills:
  • Ability to manage and implement sustainability projects effectively
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to engage with clients, staff, and external partners.
  • Proficiency in analysing sustainability data, emissions calculations, and risk assessments.
  • Skill in facilitating practice changes and promoting sustainable behaviour.
  • Proficiency in analysing emissions data and risk assessments.
