Due to an internal promotion, Rabobank New Zealand is seeking a Senior Manager, Operational Risk to join our Country Banking New Zealand (CBNZ) team.
This role sits within the 1st Line of Responsibility and plays a critical part in embedding strong risk culture and effective risk management practices across the business.

Reporting to the Head of Portfolio Management you will support the adoption and ongoing implementation of Rabobanks Risk and Control Framework (RCF), with a strong focus on operational risk.
This is a highly influential role that enables the business to achieve its strategic objectives and build a strong risk culture while operating within Rabobank NZs defined risk appetite and an increasingly complex regulatory environment.
You will act as a trusted advisor, facilitating the identification, assessment, management, and resolution of risk matters, while supporting leaders to own and manage risk effectively in their daytoday operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Support CBNZ to foster a strong risk culture within the 1st Line.
- Embed operational risk management into everyday business activities.
- Facilitate annual and dynamic risk assessments, ensuring risk profiles accurately reflect business operations.
- Provide proactive risk advice to support sound business decisionmaking.
- Liaise closely with 2nd Line, Framework Owners, and Internal Audit to ensure effective and integrated risk management practices.
- Ensure new initiatives appropriately address risk, control, and compliance requirements.
- Coordinate 1st Line risk reporting and monitoring, including stakeholder and committee reporting obligations.
- Lead thematic reviews in response to emerging risk issues.
- Train, mentor, and develop CBNZ staff on risk management and mitigation.

You are a confident and credible risk professional who thrives on influence rather than authority and enjoys working closely with senior leaders to enable strong business outcomes.
Ideally you will bring:
- A Bachelors degree or equivalent.
- 810 years relevant experience, including at least 3 years in operational risk within the financial services sector.
- Experience in broader operational risk frameworks.
- Proven ability to manage senior stakeholders and operate effectively in complex environments.
- Knowledge of banking and finance operations, regulatory standards, and drivers of operational risk.
- Experience working in Risk, Compliance, or business roles with risk management accountability.
