As regulatory expectations evolve and fraud threats become increasingly sophisticated, we're expanding our Fraud & Scams Monitoring capability and are seeking an experienced people leader to join us as NZ Operations Lead, Fraud & Scams Monitoring RANZ.
This is a critical leadership role with responsibility for the day-to-day operational performance of our New Zealand Fraud & Scams Monitoring function. You'll lead a team of Analysts and Senior Analysts, driving investigation quality, operational excellence and continuous improvement while helping protect our clients from financial crime.

Reporting to the Regional Fraud & Scams Monitoring Manager, RANZ, you'll be responsible for overseeing fraud and scam monitoring operations across New Zealand, ensuring alerts are investigated effectively, controls are maintained, risks are managed, and regulatory expectations are met.
Working as part of a regional Australia and New Zealand team, you'll partner closely with your Australian counterpart to drive consistency, share best practice and support a high-performing monitoring capability across the region.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the day-to-day operations of the Fraud & Scams Monitoring team in New Zealand.
- Manage operational performance, workloads, escalations, SLAs and backlog control.
- Oversee fraud and scam investigations, ensuring timely, risk-based and customer-focused outcomes.
- Act as the escalation point for complex, high-risk and sensitive fraud and scam matters.
- Lead, coach and develop Analysts and Senior Analysts to build capability and consistency.
- Drive investigation quality, governance and adherence to operational controls.
- Own and maintain operational procedures, processes and documentation.
- Identify and implement continuous improvement and operational uplift initiatives.
- Support reporting, operational insights, risk assessments and transformation activities.
- Partner with stakeholders across the business to strengthen fraud prevention and customer protection outcomes.

We're looking for a strong operational leader with deep fraud and scam monitoring expertise and a passion for developing high-performing teams.
You'll have:
- Proven leadership experience within fraud, scams, financial crime or fraud monitoring teams in banking or financial services.
- Strong people leadership capability, including coaching, performance management and capability development.
- Experience managing operational delivery within a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
- Deep understanding of fraud and scam monitoring, investigations, alert management and customer protection measures.
- Strong risk and governance knowledge, ideally gained in a regulated environment.
- The ability to make sound, timely and risk-based decisions on complex cases.
- Experience developing and improving operational procedures, controls and processes.
- A continuous improvement mindset with a focus on efficiency, scalability and operational excellence.
- Exceptional stakeholder management and relationship-building skills.
