At Rabobank, we're committed to building a stronger, more resilient bank that supports our clients, communities and colleagues. We're looking for an experienced Manager, Operational Risk & Compliance to join our Strategy & Transformation Office (STO), where you'll play a critical role in strengthening risk governance, enabling transformation initiatives, and helping drive a culture of accountability and compliance across the organisation.
About the Opportunity
As an integral member of the First Line of Defence, you will provide trusted risk and compliance expertise to the Strategy & Transformation Office. Partnering closely with senior stakeholders, project teams and risk owners, you will help embed Rabobank's Risk Management Framework (RMF) into the way the business operates, ensuring risks are effectively identified, assessed, managed and reported.
This is a highly visible role that combines strategic influence with hands-on delivery. You'll act as a trusted advisor, supporting major change initiatives while enabling business leaders to achieve their objectives within a strong and well-governed risk environment.
What You'll Be Doing
As the Manager, Operational Risk & Compliance, you will:
- Lead and drive effective risk management practices across the STO domain in line with Rabobank's Risk Management Framework.
- Partner with business and project stakeholders to identify, assess and manage operational and compliance risks.
- Support the successful delivery of transformation and change initiatives by providing expert risk and compliance guidance throughout the project lifecycle.
- Conduct and review risk and control assessments for project and change initiatives.
- Coordinate risk and compliance activities during transitions from project delivery into business-as-usual operations.
- Monitor, maintain and report on the STO risk profile, ensuring alignment with policies, frameworks and risk appetite statements.
- Support incident management, issue remediation and sustainable control improvements across the business.
- Deliver meaningful insights on emerging risks through analytics, reporting, root cause analysis and lessons learned reviews.
- Champion key risk disciplines including Privacy, Data Management, Policy and Risk Appetite Statement (RAS) initiatives.
- Facilitate risk governance forums, In-Control meetings and annual risk profile reviews.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of the First Line Risk & Compliance strategy across the broader organisation.
- Build strong relationships with senior leaders, project managers, business analysts, risk champions and second and third line stakeholders.
What You'll Bring
We're looking for a seasoned risk professional who thrives in a collaborative and evolving environment.
Essential Experience
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification.
- 7+ years' experience in financial services risk management, with a focus on operational risk, compliance risk, controls, assurance, auditing and/or project risk.
- Experience working within First Line and/or Second Line Risk functions.
- At least 3 years' experience in a risk advisory capacity within the financial services sector.
- Proven experience supporting large-scale projects and change initiatives from a risk and compliance perspective.
- Demonstrated ability to work with and influence senior stakeholders.
Technical Knowledge & Skills
- Strong understanding of operational risk frameworks, controls and governance practices.
- Experience assessing and managing risk profiles and control environments.
- Sound knowledge of compliance obligations within a regulated financial services environment.
- Experience with risk analytics, dashboard reporting and data-driven insights (Power BI experience highly regarded).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong facilitation, training and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
- Ability to identify practical solutions and drive outcomes in complex environments.
What Will Set You Apart
You'll be recognised for your ability to balance commercial outcomes with strong risk management principles. You're someone who can influence, challenge and collaborate effectively, while bringing curiosity, critical thinking and a continuous improvement mindset.
You are comfortable navigating ambiguity, supporting transformation and helping teams embed sustainable risk practices that enable success.
