Your Team Responsibilities

The Sustainable Finance Research Intern will support methodology development and MSCIs thought leadership on sustainable finance, with a focus on EU sustainable finance regulatory solutions. The team develops methodologies for key EU sustainable finance regulations, including the Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation (SFDR), the EU Taxonomy, the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and the Markets in Financial Instruments Directive II (MiFID II). The team also supports the tailoring of ESG and climate solutions to meet regulatory requirements across jurisdictions.

In this role, you will support financial market participants in meeting sustainable finance regulatory requirements and contribute to the team's research and analysis in a regulated environment. You will work closely with colleagues across MSCI, including Research, Client Sales & Service, Marketing, Legal, Regulatory Affairs and Product Management.

Your Key Responsibilities

Working closely with senior members of the team, you will:

  • Analyze EU sustainable finance topics and regulations.
  • Track key sustainable finance frameworks, including SFDR and the EU Taxonomy, to support MSCI ESG Research in developing aligned solutions.
  • Contribute to ensuring our reporting solutions and products are aligned with regulatory requirements.

Your skills and experience that will help you excel

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed an undergraduate or master's degree in Business, Finance, Economics or Law.
  • Knowledge of key EU sustainability regulations and reporting frameworks.
  • Familiarity with the financial sector; knowledge of ESG data is an advantage.
  • Proficiency in working with large datasets in Microsoft Excel.
  • Python programming skills are an advantage.
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively in a highly team-oriented environment.
  • Strong communication and active listening skills.
  • Fluency in English.
